I took this photo July of 2007 in the Olympic mountains.
I wasn't "crazy" yet about Alpines, but I loved the "mounding" formation of this plant. I forgot I had this photo until today, now I'm hoping someone can ID it for me!
Lynn I'm sure you'll love this one! I don't have any id on it!

Hi Lynn, they could be anything, they were taken on the east side of the Olympic Mountains on an alpine hike I took in 2007 - after seeing these plants, I may have to go back!!

Wish you both were joining! Marilyn, yes I've been watering and doing yard work and planting (you'd think I'm going for much longer!! but Seattle decided to have what for us amounts to a heat wave, and very dry, and I have several trees and bushes that I've recently planted, don't want to loose them, and no one is very reliable here in my building for watering!!! So far the things I've planted look great!!)
Its going to be so fun meeting people in person, I'm almost as excited about that as I am the workshop!

And I did find them in Olympic National park. Just didn't realize my photo was of a plant that's "common" according to the website!

Wish the photos were more detailed so we could be sure. When are you going back to that area?

It was a 18 mile round trip hike in one day...it was so exhausting!! But, I may go back this year, since I'm now more interested in knowing what the plants are that I'm seeing - instead of "oow, another pretty one!"

It could happen this year...I have to prepare for a few weeks before going, its a long and steep hike! But I have a better camera so can take some great photos!!
