Whew,,,Elaine, that makes me feel better to know that this is normal. Yes I did see LariAnne's post about the fertilizer and promptly went out and gave it a shallow wading pool.

I didn't remove the saucer as the weather cooled last autumn and my tuber developed some big splits.

Even though I dusted it I've had to carve off about half due to rot. Depressing since several new growth points had formed in a ring around the top.
Hopefully she'll be this happy this year.

Mine either, Mj. It keeps getting cold . . . but I'm sure they're ready to jump up as soon as it decides to stay warm. Mine's in a pot but it's out in the garden so it's getting all this rain . . . I suppose I should go check on it. But I'll have to tip it out of the pot, and it's raining and thundering now!

That picture was taken about a week ago. The 3rd leaf there is about to unfurl. Thinking of cutting the inflorescence off. I want it to get as big as possible this year.
Thank You!

It's been in a closet upstairs all Winter. The first year I had it, I basically took it out and planted it in late Feb. and it took off.

Yep, I have a little bulb about an inch across with a tiny shoot that is the same 'vintage' as yours, Mj. At least they made a bulb, though! I'm guessing that's why Tropiflora charge so much for their full-grown ones. Takes forever to grow them?

Tomorrow I will go and disturb the Mama plant just to see how big that tuber is and give her some fresh potting mix. This is her 4th season with me, I think, and I got her as a full size plant.

You're really going to cut off that pretty flower, Drew? Mine self-pollinated and seeded herself the first year she made a flower. But you're probably right, the leaves might get bigger and last longer if you don't let the flower mature. I'm going to try that with my Thai caladiums this year.

So, here's what was way down in the wormkiller pot! The tag was even still in there, and still readable.

Big Mama bulb with a nice shoot going, she's about 3.5in across. Little one year bulb, about an inch across and two babies about 1/3in. all with shoots.

I don't think I could either Elaine. But if you did would it flower again?

Is it better to pot them in a wider pot, such as bulb pan, or a deeper pot ? Mine's gonna need to move up here very soon.

I have mine in a deep pot, Mj. I think cutting off the flower makes the plant produce more leaves, kind of like what Caladiums do. Maybe it would make a bigger bulb by fall, don't know if it would flower again, though. But Drew could tell us for sure. He cut off the flower on his.
