Bev, interesting! It just looks so familiar, maybe a type of "lipstick" plant?? (having a trumpet shaped bloom?)

wow, tarev, you sure did get quite a haul for one weekend! I haven't made it there yet.
And you think I have, unbeknownst to me, a hoya? Then I have to ask if all Hoyas have those kinds of flowers that I see your photos of in the Hoya thread; you know the many heads coming from a multi-stem branch? I don't see those kind of blooms on this plant so I will have to take a pic of the next flowers I get and show and tell.

Hi Bev! Oh, I do not know how Hoyas normally bloom, I just have that Hoya shooting star in bloom right now..have yet to see my Hoya kerrii, carnosa and pubicalyx to show any sign of bloom making Big Grin I am still a newbie with Hoyas, still learning the ropes. Yeah, do take a photo of your plant when it is in bloom, then if I do see that similar plant at the nursery in bloom we can compare photos. I just found out too that this Hoya shooting star does not normally keep its peduncles, will just make a new one, compared to the other Hoyas that rebloom on peduncles..ah such a lot to learn!

I will surely go back there at CJ, coz I wanted to get a rooted plumeria..am just at my wits end with my plumie cutting. They say they will have their plumies this June. They do give a frequent buyer card, once all holes punched, you get $10 off on next purchase. Smiling And I have a card full already Whistling Big Grin

From all your photos, I can see why they might vote you best customer for the month of May...
And from the Hoya thread I see everybody else's photos of plants that have peduncles; so I thought the lack of peduncles on
my plant, well... Confused

Hello everyone. I'm usually just lurking as I'm a newbie to cactus and succulents. But I'm learning a lot. Bev, I think Greg is right. Your plant looks like one of mine. The one I have is Aeschynanthus (Lipstick plant) Black Pagoda.

Hi Deebie, I like ya already!! since you detected Bev's plant!!! Hurray! Hurray! Do you grow other plants?? You said you're new to succulents/cacti
I think we're in similar zones, but I bet we have very different weather - we don't tend to get much humidity here (Seattle WA, opposite coast from you!)
That plant has such interesting flowers!! Usually they're red or pink, these ones seem dullish green/yellow...interesting!! I tip my hat to you.
Tarev - I love the plants you got! Wow!!! The aeonium and the lotus gold flash are amazing looking!!!
Bev, breathe a sigh of relief, you don't have to resort to the ID forum - although whenever I have, they've been really nice, so don't know why you're being shy about it!! nodding Blinking
Anyway, I haven't posted this until today...most of my succulents went outdoors just before our "heat wave" about a week ago, I thought I'd sheltered them enough, but I didn't and so they're all sunburnt, many are looking really sad Thumbs down Sad I feel just terrible because I was just being a "lazy" dad, and trying to get them acclimated ASAP, instead of taking the time that is required...they're all healthy so I know they'll bounce back, but meanwhile they're looking terrible, I may brave it out and post a photo or 2...but ugh! Why did I do that Confused So warning, when moving plants outside from inside, take time, keep them in part shade for a week or so Sticking tongue out

Greg, don't make yourself feel bad by having to post pictures of sun tortured plants victimized by you...
But if you think posting the pics of the victims will help some person learn from your faux pas, then by all means, post away. Could you include a warning about the graphic nature of the photos in beginning of your post? (Smile) Thanks.

Hello Greg..I did that to my Senecio articulatus, I was too eager to give it the sun..so it burnt most of the lovely leaves..but on the other hand..its 'abs' are now more prominent to be seen Hilarious!

Before:

After the sunburn, and have repotted it as well:

Greg, in my zone, we get a quite a bit of rain (except when we need it most during July) and lots of freezing night temps. So my tenders have to come indoors in the winter. I kept one pot of graptopetalum in the garage under regular shop lights and it didn't do well. It looks terrible, so I'll take cuttings to rejuvenate it hopefully. I put the other pot under a tree to see if it would survive, and it did. I had a large NOID escheveria that I put by a window in the garage, which faces NE, and it etoliated and lost it's color. I didn't know what to do, so I pinched out the tip of one plant, and now it is doing something weird (multiplying on the tips). I do have the fever and bought some new plants on clearance before christmas and during the last couple of months. I'm trying not to go overboard, and you guys are not helping. Hilarious! I keep Drooling ing over some of the photos posted.

I kept my cactus' in the house. I don't know what I can put outdoors, as I don't have a covered porch (to keep them drying during our rainy seasons). Shrug! I know that they need sun. So, I'll have to figure something out.

I'm going to buy some flourescent tubes for plants and keep my small collection of tenders under it in the garage during the winter. I don't have room in my house and I do collect houseplants as well. I have a lot to learn. Whistling

Deebie! Yes I began doing the succulent thing a couple of years ago, and that first winter I watered at if they were regular houseplants (because during the summer they wanted that) many of them died, or didn't look good at all, so I got a bunch of grow lights, and they did better. Then this winter I listened to folks on here about watering less, and my plants looked great! Until a week ago, I thought our unusual sun/heat was a "temporary" thing, and put my plants out and then went away, and all of them are sunburnt, I thought they'd recover, and some will but I can tell I totally lost several plants - trying not to be too disappointed Sad It was such a thoughtless thing to do, I knew better...grrrr Grumbling I'll post photos of plants as they recoup, not in the state they are currently in Sticking tongue out We also have very wet winters and spring...I'm planning to leave my plants out this year, and probably make some type of cold frame for them, to keep them dry!
Good luck with your plants!! I tip my hat to you. Its all a learning experience for me, and I love that even when they're sunburnt, I can see some of them are already sending out new growth because they're so happy to have real sun, and wind instead of a stuffy house! Rolling on the floor laughing

Cold frame. That's what I need to shelter my hardier succulents like the graptopetalum. I just need to figure out which ones they are. Blinking
I'm sorry to hear about your sunburnt plants. But thanks for warning us that it could happen.

I have been moving some succulent containers around this past few weeks, some succulents are just for the shade. But shade in my garden still gives them access to good bright light, no overhang. So the succulents recover and grow better. Even the couple of hours of direct sun will make some of them toast.

Last year mine all were in full sun, and indoors they've been under high light grow lights, but I still should have given them more time to adjust! Deebie, these folks on here have talked about slowly moving your plants into full sun, but Seattle often is cloudy, it can be warm enough yet still cloudy, so I thought I didn't need to do that...guess what! Ha, I did need to take it slow. I'm going to spray them with "super thrive" because it says that its good for "stressed" plants...and these guys are stressed! I tip my hat to you.

I have another succulent, Euphorbia flanaganii which I have been carefully trying to rejuvenate, after getting too much sun most of last year and during winter outdoors. Happy to see it recover after almost 4 months. I did lose one of them, but at least the remaining two are doing much better now and I have repotted them together with other succulents in a nice bonsai pot, and keeping them in shade Big Grin
