Euphorbia francoisii now called Euphorbia decaryi. Very variable and if you were to get a second specimen it might look nothing alike. Beautiful bonsai candidate that forms a large tuberous root.

Ok thank you, it was suggested in in Plant id forum that it was some form of decaryi but not what form. But from the sounds of it there's no point knowing the specific form.
Just curiously as I have other variations, when growing these, is it fine for the leaves to look purple and closed up inwardly? These are the 'ribbed for your pleasure' sort of leaves, not the flat ones in the original post. Mine other ones have done that since purchase about 3 months ago and the plant some fine otherwise.

Thanks Baja, thats interesting!

Yes, it seems like quite normal with some of the E. Francoisii to have changes in color, shape or pattern. I have seen those changes is my collection, you can see below how their leaves look different between the old and new leaves. The same with E. Cylindrifolia, the shape of the leaves will change.

The first one looks like E. Cylindrifolia to me, and the last photo should be E. Decaryii

They look so dry, if you give them more shade, they will turn green, at least this is how they behave in here.

Mine flip-flops from green and sort of wavy to purple/brown and wrinkled depending on weather, water, and shade. The milder the conditions, the greener the plant. I've got to find some of those flat red-leafed ones. SWMBO would love them!

Try to use the keyword " Euphorbia Francoisii ", you wil find a lot of beautiful ones, slim, fat and marple leaves.. The bad thing is that they cost much more.. D'Oh!
