O. minutum is such a tiny one, an Orostachys and has a very interesting bloom pattern. Lynn and all, can we make this a project to make this one "common"? Kind of like what I've been doing with S. x Hookeri - been giving it attention so that it is always increasing and trying to include in in trade boxes when possible. This one (minutum) is such a delight.

Wow that's a great idea Twit!
Lynn is this one that you gave me already? You gave me one, that I don't remember the name...
I tip my hat to you.

Greg, if you are talking about Orostachys, it was O. chrysantha I gave you. It wouldn't be considered a tiny one, but is wonderful. You will love it once it gets going and makes a beautiful colony.

Great idea twit. Once you get S. x 'Hoolerii' going it is quite tough and very prolific.
I hope O. minutum turns out to be as tough. I will have to acquire another one to try.
Did you get a photo of yours in bloom?

I have a couple of photos somewhere, but not very good ones due to the small size. I think I already posted them on either the Oro threads or the small semp threads.

My O. minutum doesn't look too good. It looks alive but hasn't opened up the way O. spinosa has.

It looks like you could fit 50 O. minutum in the space of one of my O. spinosa hens.

I'll try and remember tomorrow.
It's possible that the tiny thing hasn't really broken dormancy yet. It's in a more exposed area and we haven't exactly been getting much spring weather.
Most of my trees haven't budded out at all.

OTOH, S. x Hookeri is a weed.

S. x 'Hookerii' is a very good at reproducing itself one I got it going. Makes wonderful mounds. And yes, it can take over an area if you let it.

Here the late summer sun and dryness can kill Hookeri. I have to keep it in a spot that only gets a little sun each day. Even if it grows like a weed for you guys, you have to admit it make a great display.

My O. spinosa did not make it thru the winter and my O minutum decreased in number so that I only have a couple now. Lat year was very hard on my collection, with the hot summer. Many of my collection actually decreased in numbers.

Cheryl, I think you may be the one who sent me my O. minutum last year. I really like them (as if you didn't already know that!)

I'm in the NE. I'm thinking that after the O. minutum remaining size up a bit, I may transplant one to one of the Hookeri pots in a free spot to see if they like the same conditions.

Here are a few pictures of my O. minuta. It's in a 6" hypertufa bowl, and I just replanted this spring - first time in about 6 years. I totally neglect this plant. Never give it any water (other than rain and snow), it sits in full sun and bakes all day. Two weeks ago it looked totally dead, now it's coming out of dormancy. Very cool little plant!

Chris, that is really nice. You say its taken 6 years to make that large of a clump??? I looked at mine again today and found that they were doing better than I had thought. They are growing. I'm just hoping for lots of offsets. With something this small, I would be afraid to divide it up into single offsets for propagation. I would have to wait for a larger clump, then divide the clump. That's the strategy that I have been using with Hookeri (wait for a clump, then divide the clump into half)

Anybody else have pics of minutum to share?

What a beautiful sight that is Chris.
This is the one I had, but it started blooming and didn't stop until the entire clump bloomed out. Sad

Oops, forgot to add the photo?

Here is a picture of mine taken today. It still pretty much has its winter color and hasn't opened up.
We're supposed to finally get some warm weather so maybe it'll look better soon.
I have it pinned down to protect it from being uprooted by critters - it seems to work pretty well.
