1. Choose a pot that is at least 12 inches in diameter and has drainage holes in the bottom.

2. Fill the pot with a well-draining potting mix.

3. Plant the lavender rose in the center of the pot, making sure the roots are covered with soil.

4. Water the plant thoroughly and allow the soil to drain.

5. Place the pot in a sunny location and water regularly.

6. Prune the lavender rose regularly to encourage new growth and to keep the plant healthy.

7. Feed the lavender rose with a balanced fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season.

8. Move the pot indoors during the winter months to protect the plant from cold temperatures.

Mocaca, I was looking at your website (using the link you provided in another thread), and was surprised to see that some of the pages are written in Chinese, and that the contact telephone number is in India. You must be a multi-lingual world traveler.

Travelers cannot build garden and plant flowers. There is no corelation with India.

Hello Eden Lee (Mocaca)... So you changed your website overnight, replacing some of the Chinese language with English, but not all of it. It seems you missed some as of the time of this writing...

Thumb of 2022-12-29/Mike/615131

But even if you had changed everything to English, I have a screenshot of your website before it was changed...

Thumb of 2022-12-29/Mike/a25fa6

Also, last night you added 0057 (the Colombia dialing code ) to your telephone number that previously began with 91 (the dialing code for India, which you kept in place). But you didn't add one of Colombia's new thee digit regional area codes that begin with 60, and your phone number has 10 digits instead of Colombia's standard 8.

Also, your first post above mentions the use of a pot that is at least 12 inches in diameter, but you claim to be in Colombia where the metric system is used, so I would have expected you to describe the size in centimeters rather than inches. Or did you copy this post from another website?

Also, your first post above is written in perfect English, but your website's posts are in very weird English, some of which makes no sense (see the first bulleted item in the above image). The posts look to me as though they've been Google translated from another language into English. I work a lot with computerized translations in my profession, and your website's posts look like they may have been translated from an Asian language. Maybe this is why the descriptions of roses on your website mention their Japanese names. Why would you go out of your way to include that if you're in Colombia?

Thumb of 2022-12-29/Mike/6f8b20

Also, if you were truly the blog author you claim to be in your NGA profile, I would expect you would know to capitalize the names of roses, which you don't do in your posts. Coincidentally, various Indian, Chinese, and Japanese alphabets do not distinguish between uppercase and lowercase letters, so I'm wondering if this might explain why you didn't capitalize their names.

Also, your most recent posts on this thread (and other posts on other threads) were made around 3:30 a.m. Colombia time, which would have been in the afternoon in Asian and Southeast Asian countries. So this caused me to wonder if that's where you're located, and if you read my above post during your morning hours, took time to make changes to your website, and then responded to my post in your afternoon hours.

Thumb of 2022-12-29/Mike/b81aac

There is also a record on the Internet of you having created your website just before joining NGA in September, and you reached out to Google support to ask how to get your new site indexed on September 17.

Thumb of 2022-12-29/Mike/8bc458

Forgive me if I've come to the wrong conclusion, but this seems a bit suspicious to me. Perhaps you can enlighten us. Are you a native Asian speaker who really has written many articles and blogs, and are trying to create English versions on a new website?

Sometimes scammers will join forums and reach out to individual members in an effort to build rapport and relationships (through Tree Mail, for example). Eventually they come up with a sad story that plays on members' sympathies, and get around to requesting money for some sort of personal crisis. Or they offer to let you in on an investment opportunity. Or they run some other con scheme. I've even seen scammers offer to sell seeds for rare roses, not knowing very few of us ever plant roses from seeds, given the complexity of doing that. You see this a lot on Etsy and Ebay. Is that what's going on here? I don't have any way of knowing, but a lot of things look out of place.

Porkpal,

Mocaca's very first post in this forum struck me as suspicious... just a photo of an unnamed purple rose at 5:30 a.m. on Christmas morning, when most Colombians would have been otherwise occupied. So I checked the NGA profile where I found the link to Mocaca's website, the recent NGA join date, and the (ironically) badly worded/punctuated claim of being a prolific author. The more I looked into it, the more Mocaca struck me as a possible scammer, but I have no way of knowing for certain.

By the way, Mocaca's other email address besides [email protected] is [email protected] (both of these are on Mocaca's website). It turns out 898 is the area code for Hainan and Haikou in China, but maybe that's just a crazy coincidence.

Hey Mike have you ever considered becoming a detective? Lieutenant Colombo's job is still vacant. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing You are very observant.
This person's posts seemed somewhat contradictary but I just let it go as a language difference. Only thing that interested me was the purple rose pics.

Who knows... perhaps Mocaca will come back with a perfectly innocent and valid explanation that causes me to reconsider and apologize... It wouldn't be the only time I've concluded something incorrectly from a perfect storm of coincidences that looked nefarious, with a bit of confirmation bias thrown in (something I try to guard against in my profession). I'll admit that the only area of doubt I've had in my conclusions is the singular focus on climbing roses on Macoco's website and NGA profile, which seems so idiosyncratic that it could be genuine. I mean, if you're going to run a scam, why focus on climbing roses of all things? So if it turns out I've maligned Macoca's character, I'll eat crow and - uh - send him/her some seeds for a very rare rose by way of apology.

Oh Mike, I too was mesmerized by the beauties of the roses. I got inspired by the picture perfect photos that I was going to unpot my roses and replant all of them with new well draining soil as they are probably rootbound Hilarious! I might still do that.

That's understandable Gigi; I'm easily captivated by rose eye candy too!

By the way, Mocaca recently posted similar posts on the Reddit rose forum, under the misspelled user name of CiderellaEaster. Note the discussions following the photos from these two posts...
