Thanks for the info Hetty. I did the slant too but, since my grafts are high above my tall trees, I think the strong winds knocked off my graft union. Good thing I did not lose a single cuttings (they were well caloused when I took them down) and the failed host branches has started branching out.

The only graft that survived in my experiments is the little DPS I saved from my failed air layering experiments. All the other branches are rooting in pots.

You are brave Gigi, I've given up on grafting experiments.

It is hard, I have not tried it since!
