Art was one of my GCE subjects at school. Did a bit of oil painting in my twenties, none since, as I was never that good. I threw a lot of it out decades ago, but my wife hung on to a few.

That's very kind of you.
But we've only the one on the wall.

I've always been a bit self-conscious. It would be hard to find a family photo that includes me, as I usually take the photos.

It's the same with my YouTube Channel, there's over sixty hobby related videos, with a few hundred thousand hits.

I've 441 subscribers, but I neither appear, nor speak in any of them. The "commentary" is the write-up below the video.

Thanks! But after no one seemed to want any of my work when I tried giving it away it kinda disheartened me. I haven't touched my drawing supplies in months. Shrug!

If anyone thinks it should be possible to sell your art work at a price that would cover the cost of the materials, they'd be mistaken.
The cost is usually more than what people are willing to pay for the finished product, so some think it's a rip off.

@Riley, I know very little about art but I know what I like. From these paintings on this post I think that you are selling yourself short by saying you were never that good and throwing a lot of paintings out. If I lived in England and you had offered me any of your work I would have been proud to hang it on my wall.

@TomatoNut95, people who didn't want your work, it is their loss. It is a privilege to be offered someone's artwork. Their creations were likely not made with the thought of selling them, they created the work with love. It took their time and money for supplies.

@Audrey, love your drawings.

I hope you people all keep producing artwork!

Art is in the eye of the beholder. Much of the art on our walls was created by our son, when he was about 8 or 9. He went to an art class and the result was some great stuff, in my jaded opinion. I enjoy looking at it as much as I would a Rembrandt or Van Gogh.

I think most people don't care at all what the "art world" thinks, they just like what they like and don't care who made it. A lot of the famous artists are famous just so rich people can over-value their work and get huge tax cuts donating stuff to charity. I don't have that kind of tax "trouble" so I'm stuck just liking what I think is good.

: )

One of my fav pieces was purchased from an artist who had setup on the sidewalk in St. Augustine. Just some guy, but I think his watercolor that I bought is completely awesome. I gave him more than the price tag, to do what I could to keep him from having to waste his time on a job. I'm sure the world is better off with him as an artist than a waiter. And I admit, he was really cute.

Nice Subarctic. Now, why can't I do something like that. What were you using to do the drawings --pen, markers?
