I ordered this plant from a nursery here. It's supposed to be a new introduction called Jungle Fire. I can't find any info on it. I have a few cleros, but this one is so striking, I had to try it. Does anyone recognize it by any other name?

That looks like Excoecaria cochinchinensis 'Jungle Fire' also listed as Ficus excoecaria

Oh boy! I think I've been had! You're correct! It was expensive too! Thanks for the ID.

You are very welcome. It is a really pretty plant.....sometimes nursery employees mix things up....or make things up.....of have no idea..... If you like the plant it may be worth what you paid for it. Do know that it is only hardy to about Zone 10b....

Hardiness isn't a problem. Most of what I like is not hardy here! Making me think it was a new introduction of a clerodendrum is a problem! Oh well, live and learn. At least I know now what it really is. I might put it in a mixed pot with some other tropical things. It certainly is colorful.

Yeah, that part is a bit disconcerting....I was tickled at the thought also until I enlarged the picture.

My husband brought home a "Too cool new succulent" for me.....little did he know that what he has is a Clusia... now I am in the process of trying to figure out which species.....sure hope it isn't the 50 foot tree form Confused

I thought so too....but yes, it will live in a pot cuz I think it is only hardy to zone 10b. there are a number of species...I just need to determine which ones are sold in US and then which one of those this might be. considering the plant is over 18inches tall, I think I can rule out the ground cover one...
