I did look closely at those pics, and while it kinda looks like something I remember seeing on the orange one I had, I can't recall what caused it. It reminds me of how the leaves looked when the plant had been dry for too long. How does it look now? Still the same?

Two of the leaves have them nearer to the top end, the rest looks okay, and there are 2 new leaves growing nicely from the center.
Our temps went down again last night to the 39F range, but warms up following day..I hope it is just acclimating or maybe got too cramped already in the old 1 gallon container before. Hopefully the new container gives it a little more root space wiggle room. Or are the older leaves just sharing its energy to the new growth? Sometimes I see that in other plants where it drops old leaves to give way to new growth.

I got total of 9 leaves on this plant. Thank you for this Clivia thread, I am really so excited with this plant.

I tried to clean the leaves a bit, I read somewhere just to use distilled water..so I did that. So the long wait begins, thankfully I do not have to water right now. Smiling

Seems mine occasionally loses a leaf from time to time through the year, and typically some leaves look ratty by spring and I cut those back. It gets several new leaves through the summer, and always appears to have new leaves just starting to emerge, even when it's not in active growth.

My Clivia is surprisingly enduring our cold spells quite well. I guess the protection of the alcove is sufficient for it and I have kept it dry, not watering at all. I was a bit worried while I was away if it will survive since we got freeze warnings after Christmas. But temps are doing better now, still cold start at 37 to 39F but we warm up to high 50's to mid 60's.

Hurray! Tarev. Is your clivia orange? I have 3, but right now they are sitting dormant in my garage. I usually bring the yellow inside in February to get it to wake up and bloom sooner than the others. I just love the blooms. Congrats on the baby.

Hi Debbie, my plant's tag says Clivia Solomone Hybrid Yellow. Thanks!!! Big Grin

I think I will bring this one in as soon as I have stored my Christmas tree, that is the spot by the north facing window that will be suitable for it. Big Grin

Still have a few years wait, but my 4 seedlings are 3 years old now and I just repotted them up from 5-6"pots to 8" pots a couple of weeks ago, which has me excited to see what the blooms will look like. They were from crossing a yellow with an orange. They're looking great, and look so much bigger in the new pots, so I'm daydreaming about them!

Been taking down my Christmas decors, and somehow I feel a sad void forming as I store them...however....I have decided to pull in my clivia so it takes the spot of my Christmas tree now...makes that spot cheerful again alongside with two zz plants Big Grin Thankful for that north facing bay window, just the right spot for these plants!

For my own reference, I measured the circumference of the neck of my clivia..measures 6.5 inches. I gave the plant its first taste of water yesterday when I moved it indoors Smiling

Tarev, can you plant Clivias in the ground? I think they're zone 9 hardy.

My sideyard grounds are paved so mostly plants are in containers. Then we get too hot in summer and we get strong winds here from time to time. I have considered putting by the northside in the shadiest part, but the leaf span of this plant is too wide. The only other location will be back to our front door area..but it does block the way a bit. I only put it there in Dec to get some nice cool down.

Tarev, As they multiply, which they do like bunnies, you can just move them to larger pots. My cousin has a 36" pot on her patio that makes a spectacular display, and no amount of wind is going to move it. They do get a bit of frost, most winters, but not alot.

PS. I've got 6 pots that all came from them...only 1 yellow.
