The piano is like any other fountainhead. I imagine a regular recirculating pump would do it. But I will look for specifics. Are you wanting it to go disappear into the ground ( pondless) or are you planning a pond, filter, skimmer - the whole shebang?

You would need some kind o flat plastic or metal tray to fan out the flow so it is wider. I have seen these as a display not sure how long a wooden piano would hold up outside in the weather getting wet from the fountain I have seen some very interesting ways to use old pianos on pinterest. Do a search for old piano ideas and you will find shelves, bookcases and wall hangings.

Holly..the weather would be a problem...but I think the outflow would get directed to a wide-ish form that sits right at the edge of the lip... A machine shop could fabricate from aluminum inexpensively ..the shape of a dust pan....return water hose coming through the "handle" then widening ...the returning water from the reservoir would never touch the piano but surely rhe elements would.

Yes, It wouldn't be too hard to get some kind of wide pan fabricated. I was thinking more about the legs getting wet either from splash/ or position so close to the pond basin. Not to mention that wind can blow the water around when you have a fall from a 3ft or so height. We see that all the time from the Bird Bath Pond and quite often turn it off on windy days.

Oh yeah, that is true. Forgot about that. We looked at all kinds of stautary....$$$$$$$$. ..the pond guy was planning his next vacation on those stautes alone.. And I bet he was taking a girlfriend... Anyway...I had a big flagstone..nicely shaped ..sort of arrowhead-y.. Thick. Had it drilled for $30 and used that!

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I was planning on having it flow into a pond inside the corner of my raised bed garden area. I had thought about a rubber, plastic, or metal pan on the inside for the water to flow out into a wide fan, then down into the pond. I wouldn't let the water touch the inside wood of the piano. I am sure after a while it would deteriorate over time from outdoor elements and water splash. But I would still like to try it. I will let you know if this plan gets off the ground, so to speak.

You could use a water seal on those legs if you see the splash reaching and impacting.

I forgot about the plans...I. I will look to see if there are any

Thanks Rosie. I was thinking along that line too, like some kind of rubber spray or whatever they use on boats to seal out the water. I have been thinking about doing this with my piano ever since I saw that piano waterfall on the internet a few years back. I did want to put in a pergola someday. Now I am thinking maybe this would be a cool place to put it, in or next to the pergola. Guess I will need to sketch it out on paper and see what it would end up looking like.

And here is resource- a real live person!

This piano is an 1885 steinway, It had really bad termite damage to the inner structure so yes it was beyond repair, so I turned it into a fountain for my mom for mothers day. It has a 2000 gallon per hour pump in the pond and a flex hose from the pump up into the piano where where I used a construction of pvc to distribute the water across the keys which I sealed with fiberglass resin. Let me know if you want more info about it Iโ€™ll be glad to share. Feel free to send me some questions at [email protected].

We have a wooden shed at one end of our rear driveway for housing the larger garden and yard tools.
Thumb of 2019-10-06/Peggy8b/ac455d

For all my potting activity, my seated wheeled cart, wheelbarrow/wagon, I created this potting station in a wasted alcove behind our house at the other end of that rear driveway. I collected all the bits of concrete slabs and created a non-muddy walk-on, bought a cheap plastic event table, added some closet shelves and took 4 cinder blocks to create a work-height place for my potting soil. The slab the table sits on was already there when we bought the house. We think they had a BBQ cooker out there mounted on the brick to the right, based on two large drilled holes where something used to be mounted. I just set this up last month and can't believe I took FOUR YEARS to think of a useful way to utilize this area that had a hose bib. I can sit on my 360ยบ spinning bench and work at the table, or spin around to the potting soil without even standing up. When done with a project, I can grab the hose right there to my left and hose off the slab, the table and any spilled potting soil (which I always spill). I can tip down the wheelbarrow so easily and take it around the yard wherever needed. And my wheeled/seated garden cart comes out from under its weather cover for a spin to the front yard on my cemented garden paths we put in 4 years ago. All this was to accommodate my bad back that really doesn't let me bend and stoop much anymore. So far I'M LOVING IT and it had been so kind to my bad back!

@Peggy8b Your work area looks great. You did a great job. Hurray! I tip my hat to you.

Where did you find your 360 spinning chair? One of those would be great to have to work in some of my raised beds. I would just have to get up and move it by hand when I needed to. I have a wheeled garden seat but it is hard to maneuver on wood mulch but I do use it when I am picking green beans in my raised vegetable bed.

Nothing fancy really. I was wanting functional yet not to spend over around $100. I succeeded! Table was $39, stool $39 and 4 cinder blocks were $12 I think. Got the shelves for the table at Big Lots real cheap.

I found that spinning stool at Bed Bath and Beyond on-line. I wanted a pedestal base so I couldn't get my feet tripped up in legs and there would be no rusting of metal legs either. It's chrome plated steel. It's real sturdy and goes up and down nicely. Here's a link to it: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.c.... The blue honeycomb gel pad I already owned. Bought it for my wheeled cart last year, but it didn't really work on that seat so well. Works like a champ atop this stool, and doesn't scoot around/off! The stool gets midday hot TX sun and the black plastic seat gets REAL hot without the blue gel cushion. I just lift it up when it gets rain or I've hosed things off, so I don't sit down on a wet honeycomb. Wouldn't that leave an interesting pattern on your jeans? LOL

I still have this cover thing. It's over part of my potting bench, and there is a mini garden at the other end. Having a shady spot for more plants and potting activities is awesome! It also holds hanging pots from fence post "bars."

Any place that makes build-to-order sheds should be able to make something like this pretty inexpensively, pole sides & a roof.
