I remember driving my mother to Witherspoon years ago to pick up her supplemental order of 10 roses, after she ordered about 20 of them earlier in the season.

I remember the story of that trip, Mike, and all of the holes you dug.

I just got my very first bare root rose from Witherspoon today, and oh my, it is a winner! I'd always heard great things about Witherspoon over the past 20+ years of being a rose fanatic, but never ordered from them. Long story, but I was griping on my other rose forum about not getting a rose that was supposed to be carried by my local nursery, and someone saw that it was offered by Witherspoon. I'm on a serious rose diet, so I only ordered the one, so didn't get the free shipping, but it was so worth it. Now I have a new favorite mail order rose source. I just plunked it in a bucket of water this afternoon, but I'll take a pic of it tomorrow. Extremely impressive!

If you're going to order, hurry up. I ordered four roses: Enchanted Peace, Chicago Peace, Rio Samba, and Gingersnap. I would have ordered Honey Dijon, Princesse Charlene de Monaco, and Sheila's Perfume, but those three were already unavailable.

I have Sultry Night, Black Baccarra and Dark Night so far in my cart. Trying to get my best friend to order one or two so I can knock my picks down because I'm eyeballing one more.

Moonllght Romantica and Vavoom added on my end. I'll bug my BF later bout ordering a couple so I can knock off a couple. Dark Night would go for sure and maybe Vavoom since I need a soft rose to go in between all my other colors. Any known issues with the ones I picked let me know please. They will be in the country and need to be non fussy.

I wanted Stainless Steel pretty bad but if I had to choose between it and Munstead Woods Munstead wins so hoping my favorite nursery has it this year. I can put roses up front along the road as well but will wait. Lots of work ahead of me this year.

Here are a couple of pics of my Nicole Carol Miller, delivered yesterday. In the first pic, you can see a new basal starting (small white dot). I grabbed a standard red plastic cup for size comparison. There is another new basal on the other side, but you can't see it in the second pic. Canes are big and green and healthy.

Chamblee's Roses has Princess Charlene de Monaco for pre-order in 1 gallon and 3 gallon. However, it will only be shipped after 5/1/23.

How I wish I could order from this nursery. I've never been disappointed by the quality roses they sell.

With all the roses I ordered this year and the ones I am still yet to order from Burlington Roses, I think I am good for this year. I also have to transplant all the roses into grow bags by the end of this year because we will be moving out temporarily next year for a year while the house gets renovated including the backyard. I was able to find a nursery that will house all my roses and tend to it, just in case.

Shyam, I stay away from Chamblees these days because their shipping costs are so high. I paid more for shipping than for the roses in my last order three years ago.

That's a great-looking rose, Susan. Witherspoon really does sell exceptional bare-root roses.

I wish my Dark Knight looked as good as the one above. Mine from a few years ago was such a blackspot magnet, and such a piddling thing, that it is one of the few roses I ever decided to shovel prune.

Mike, thanks for making me feel better about skipping Dark knight. It was really, really hard narrowing my choices down but I don't want to go overboard on roses yet.

Thanks for the Witherspoon option. Had never heard of them. I've ordered Dark Night, Sultry Nights and Drop Dead Red. I had a problem ordering and they were totally responsive in fixing the problem (at their end) and they gave me an additional discount for my trouble. If their behavior and the great reviews of them on this feed are an indicator, I will definitely consider ordering from them in the future. Can't wait to see the roses they send.

It's a great nursery to visit if you ever have the chance; they have a beautiful display garden.
