Yesterday morning when I went out to put the bird feeders out, we have to take then in at night now because of the bears, I got a huge surprise, Blinking there was a yellow-bellied marmot sitting on the wood pile, this is big trouble, they dig burrows and tunnels, they eat everything in site. Crying I chased it away several times during the day. Grumbling

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can keep it away. Shrug!

Yes they are very cute and I love to see them anywhere but in my garden. Hilarious! No sign of it today, my neighbors dog came over to the fence to see me, she is a sweetie, she loves peanuts, anyway she sniffed around the area close to the woodpile and I told her "bad critter" so that she know she should chase it out of there. Green Grin!

First time I saw a marmot was in Yosemite and I had no idea what it was....lol..I do have to agree that he / she is 'cute'...but so are rabbits and squirrels and we know what damage they can cause.

We live in a very interesting area, lots of wildlife everywhere. Last week I went to the hairdresser and while she was cutting my hair 2 deer appeared right outside her salon window, I could see them from the chair, she had to stop cutting a couple of time to go chase them away from her pots of flowers at the front of her house. Rolling on the floor laughing

I was very enamored of the deer outside my windows in Washington...until I realized they were eating my apple trees..... Here it's gophers, rabbits and squirrels. Everything has to eat....

Margaret, I'll trade you for the marmot. I can offer you a wild hog, multiple deer in asst. sizes, a couple of armadillos, a fox with babies, a coyote pack, and your choice of a coral snake or a family of squirrels. I can send them tonight!!!! I would drive them there, but I let my passport lapse and have to renew.

I promise never to complain about squirrels, skunks and coons from now on. We have something similar called a hedgehog or groundhog. We shoot them on the horse breeding farm because if they dig holes in the pasture the horses can break a leg if they run around and tramp in one of their holes. Too much money at stake with those racehorses to do otherwise. Here on this farm where we have no pasture we just say bad words at them.

No no Sandi, thank you for your kind offer, but I think I can manage with the animals I have, don't need armadillos, coral snakes or wild hogs, we have all of the others. Green Grin!
