Twit and Greg, I'd love some seeds if you get some! I will also try to get seeds from mine and we can trade, if interested. Greg, mine bloomed outside well into December last year, even with our cold temps.

Here is mine...I love it and it's thriving on a pot! Hurray! Lynn - that snake is - never mind! Is he native to this area or are you importing?

She is a native to the Willamette Valley. And a real gift to have in ones yard.

Patty that is beautiful. Please save seed if you can for those that need seed. Hopefully our season will last long enough for it to go to seed.

I've come across a rubber boa here. It was over in Corvallis, actually on the highway just south (3rd St.). I was out taking a walk and there it was, in the ditch. I was out looking for birds and got a boa instead. It was the only one I have ever seen.

You hit the jack pot. They are so slow moving and they don't get very big.

Lynn, Ugggggggg I may never ramble in your yard again.

Patty your pot of Dunce caps are wonderful. My Orostachys are very wimpy this year as are most of my semps. Perhaps if it warms up a bit later I can get a picture. 34 degrees out there right now. 80s on the horizon by mid week but right now it is COLD.

I have never seen a snake like that...I much prefer my resident garter snake! Will my O. going to seed affect the plant? This is the first year I've had such a nice clump.

Yes, each rosette that blooms will die, just like sempervivum do. But it should leave behind non blooming rosettes to carry on. Also should reseed itself. I do see some very nice non blooming rosettes in your photo. Thumbs up

Oh Marilyn, please keep warm and think fond memories...like the time you were sitting with your coat on on Kevin's porch, sipping coffee watching the sempophiles sludging around his growing fields looking at the various new seedlings last very rainy May in Salem... Whistling (Sorry for the long sentence.) *Blush*

I tried the dunce caps once (so cool looking) but they got infested with a bunch of little white bugs and I dumped the whole container, not knowing that offsets will winter over. I was worried about the bugs moving on to my other plants. I need to try them again if I can find them; I haven't seen them around here since.

Sure! Are you still interested in the bird's nest sansevieria? I have divided and potted each of the pups. I believe they are considered a house plant but would be fine on your covered patio.

Glad to know (?) someone has worse weather than we do! We only got down to 42 last night and (I just checked) it got up to 61 today, so almost a heatwave! Hurray!

Marilyn, you definitely have some sympathetic thoughts from this part of the world -- and I do hope your weather isn't headed our way!

Hope you shoppers find some treasures to share with us here. Shopping vicariously saves $$.

Thanks to all for your sympathy about our crazy weather.

Bev, Connie and Patti and Lyn, I do have warm thoughts about the people I met in May and watched slogging around in the rain at Kevin's but not warm memories of being chilled to the bone that day.

The thing about our weather we can honestly say "This too shall pass." I think we get a kick out of sharing the weird news. Keeps the world from moving here. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

MR Hope you stay warm a bit longer, too.
