Okay, here's 2 Texas Crescent butterflies:
And the only pic I've got of caterpillars, not real clear. I'm trying not to disturb them very much, because when they're afraid, some jump off the pieces of plants I've got them on!
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
Linda: That is so awesome! Do you have them inside? I saw a B'fly flitting all over the neighbor's Passiflora today ... I'll be watching for eggs and Cat's!
I'll end the May thread with a dragonfly photo and hopefully someone will begin a new one for the month of June! I took this close up a few minutes ago when I noticed this little dragonfly land on a hibiscus bud.

Finally...the first American Lady this year that I've been able to raise from a caterpillar and have it survive to be a butterfly.

I'm thinking maybe a Hackberry Butterfly...or at least in that family. I saw a large butterfly through the window briefly earlier, looked like either a tiger or giant swallowtail. Then I checked a Hop Tree later...2 Giant Swallowtail eggs found. Brought them in...I already have 2 of those caterpillars that I'm raising.

Linda: You are good ... Cloudywing was a wild guess on my part for the B'fly in Debra's photo! Oh how cool, I can't wait to see photo's of the Swallowtails! I volunteer once a week at our local Botanical Gardens and was talking to a couple at the Herb Garden this morning and we spotted a Caterpillar and lots of eggs. I can't remember what plant the Caterpillar was on but the eggs were on Fennel so I'm thinking it's the Black Swallowtail.
