As promised, here are photos of my planted gold basket! I used an odd basket that looks wooden but is actually metal! I took chicken wire and made the "shelf" then covered all in moss, placed soil and then the plants and finished wish one of Chris's (Goldfinch4) garden art "slugs"
It has several semps, sedums, Aeoniums, and an unknown plant that I think is a type of orchid
Greg, I love the idea of the chx wire shelving...Ingenious! and suddenly I have a hankering for chicken wire...!!
Anyway, now I want to drag out my metal basket from an antique trove store and plant into it too.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks all!!! This was one of the baskets that I bought with Spring when we were down there! I loved your Goodwill store! The prices and the items! Just can't get that very often here in Seattle!
Denice its so great to see you on here!
Bev, hardware cloth and chicken wire are my new good friends!

That's awesome! The hanging shelf thing is brilliant, gets my idea-generator warmed up. Great job. Is your unknown plant Ledebouria socialis?
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The 2nd best time is now. (-Unknown)

Try to be more valuable than a bad example.
Purple, ha yep, you're right! I like the "common name" of "Silver squill" Thanks for the ID!
Inside the basket are a bunch more bulblets which I'm excited to see grow! (I just have to remember to keep it consistently moist while they develop...its partly why I made the shelf, so I could have two different growing environments, one drier and sunnier than the lower part
Thanks
This one was just across the road from the hotel. We could hit a few for sure but, I think Lynn will keep us busy visiting nurseries. This one was in Dallas so for sure we have to find one in Salem.
Yes she "zoomed" us all over the area to get to nurseries in a limited time frame! Bev, hoping you'll join us next year!! It was a fun time, even being in the thrift store with Spring, calling out to one another - hey did you see this?? Hey will this work for what you're looking for? etc. to the point that one of the employees asked us if we wanted one of the plant type things she had in a cart (I think a new item that just came in!) haha
