Thought I'd try this forum first. I'm trying to identify my native plants, and this is a tall field grass that I think is quite nice. It is clumpish, about 3' tall, and is 'heading out' now (early). Growing in a wettish area (see pond in background, surrounding ground is pretty squishy). Any ideas?

I am not very good with grasses, especially from a different region, although it may also grow in Texas.
It is a very pretty grass, I am sure someone from your area will recognize it..

Maybe one of the Timothy grasses...just a guess!

Looks like the timothy in the hay fields around here.
Your photo is of it producing pollen, most often gets cut here before it gets to that stage.

Could be Timothy, but could also be Creeping Foxtail (Alopecurus arundinaceus):

I have a hard time telling them apart until the seed heads mature. When the seeds are ripe, the individual spikelets of Creeping Foxtail easily come loose from the rest of the head (even a light breeze will blow them off) whereas the heads of Timothy stay largely intact.

They do look a whole like timothy. With the name creeping can you tell from the base ? would they be attached to each other? Maybe via roots or ?
