It is the hummingbird's favorite here. I am posting a picture of our "metal" flower ( this is also on the Garden Art Forum) that my husband and I made (99% husband, 1% me) that we just put up and I saw a hummingbird checking it out--poor thing had to leave disappointed. I told it to go over to the S. guaranitica for some goodies. Hilarious!

Beautiful! Thumbs up

What variety name is your Salvia? I know it's not 'Black and Blue'.

Marilyn, so far as I know, this is the species. There was no cultivar name attached to the tag when I bought it a number of years ago. The color here in our garden is this dark blue, just love it. I call it navy blue or royal blue to give you an idea. I know it is not "Black and Blue" and I have looked at FBTS's S. guaraniticas hybrids and if it is a hybrid, I think "Blue Ensign" might be the closest to what we have. Okay, I just entered this is the Plant Database and I see it is also called Salvia coerulea--I did not know this at all, learn something everyday.

I love your salvia
I have the black and blue which the hummers love and it grow large and stands fairly erect here
and a great salvia..but I would love to have a plant like your blue..without the black on the bloom.

My hummer keeps going to a erect salvia perennial I have that is autumn sage
or similiar to it...red blooms on a green bush

Thanks, everybody, for the interest and kind comments. When my husband gets a free moment--if it ever happens--- he plans to make a couple of leaves to put on the "flower". He thinks it needs them for look more real. I will definitely post pictures when it is done, but it may take a couple of weeks.

Is that the same plant or 3 different Salvias?

I like the color of the leaves of the first 2 pics. What color of flower?

How do you know it is a Salvia? I don't see square stems, which Salvias are known for having.
