I have Forty Second Street and it has never doubled for me. Any Ideas? It is still very pretty.

I don't have it, but every time I have ever seen it it is double. Are you sure it is actually the right plant?

The one above looks totally different than the one in the database.

Natalie,

I know but that was what it was labeled and it was doubled when purchased.

I am wondering too if this isn't mislabeled. FSS is often more of a creamy peach pink and has a wider eye pattern than yours shows with more yellow in the throat than the green yours shows. The green on FSS is deeper in the throat. This can be verified with each image in the database. Also, yours shows a strong whitish midrib and if you open each of the images in the database, you won't find that feature on any of them, just perhaps a paler midrib like the base color. And even if it's not fully double, there is always some hint of doubling in each image.

I also noticed that all of the ones in the database have a wide, sunset-orange section between the deeper portion of the throat and eye - quite stunning!

I have to wonder if you have the correct cultivar. Forty Second Street grew here for many years, and I can't recall seeing it bloom single!
Color is very different too. Notice how the petals and sepals recurve. You would see that even if the cultivar bloomed single.

I agree After looking at pics in the database, I don't think you have the correct plant either.

I think I have identified this Daylily as Radiant Love. When it bloomed this year it was more proportional. Can,t get the picture to down load. Confused

But you said when you first purchased it, it was a double. Radiant Love is not a double.

Based on the pictures and what was previously written it definitely wasn't FFS. Purchased FFS again- next summer will tell for sure, I hope.. The search may continue.

One only has to look at creation to
Daylilies
I have Forty Second Street, and that is not it. I'm amazed at how many daylilies I have been sold that are not what they are said to be. I guess we just have to chalk it up to being human and either forgetful or so busy digging and potting that we sometimes forget what is what.

I was sold this deep cherry red spider as "Once In a Blue Moon", which it is not! If anyone has an idea of what this could be, please let me know. This is its 2nd year growing in my garden and it was only about 28" tall, but the flower is at least 11" wide.Thumb of 2013-07-10/JubileeGardens/338590

Karen the first thing I do now is find a picture and print it. Either the AHS database, ATP (of course) or Tinkers. Feel really lucky if a picture is found on 2 out of the 3. Didn't do this at the beginning and now have about 15 - 20 Daylilies out of 375 I can't identify. Welcome to ATP.
