That desert rose is wonderful. I have a hard time with them. Maybe I put it in too large a pot. I never know with tem if it is too much water, too much light. I may have to try again this year

Around here in NJ, I am very careful not to rot them in Winter, I water sparingly when they are indoors and slowing down. Outdoors in Summer in active growth - the pot needs to drain well/ be fairly tight and I water with a hose and I am not gentle with that.
Light - I see absolutely no restrictions, I keep them year around in as much sunshine as possible. You see Adenium obesum all over Thailand in full sun and they thrive there.

Same here, they like our lean, sandy soil and take full sun in a well-drained situation. On the pot size, Ursula there's a lot to be said for 'not messing with success' too. Big Grin

Thanx. In the summer, do you wait for the soil to be completely dry before watering?

It's one of those vines that does not like a metal trellis, too hot and will send out shoots in it's most favorable direction. Kind of tells you where to put it

Oh really? I didn't know that.
I just bought a plant of this a couple of months ago, couldn't resist. I had one years ago, but I got sick and tired of cleaning up Mealies. That was before Imidacloprid! Should be a lot easier now to keep it clean.

Good. EAsier is always better. I found wooden trellis/stakes 1" thick or less is what mine likes

My Epiphyllum pumilum bloomed Friday night! I am growing this plant for many years, someone on DG gave it to me then ( I think...). It never grows that fast for me, so at least it stays manageable. It is a night bloomer! Cute!

Congratulations on your Epi bloom! (I've had one for about 15 years that has never bloomed, durn thing). Love the Stapelia.

Here's a Stephania perrieri, which gets a cute little caudex , horribly affected by scale this year, the vines were solid with bumps! Oddly enough they didn't seem to affect the plant.

Oh I like that one a lot!! Were you able to control the scale?

Once I opened up the greenhouse it got a lot of sun, and a few weeks later I put it outside. When I noticed the scale the bumps (I'm sure there's a better name for them, it's where the young scale are hatched, I think) were very dark colored. There was no change after sun and being outdoors, and I simply ran my fingers down the vines and pulled them all off- there weren't any live scale to be seen, the bumps were all dry inside. It was very strange!
The plant is growing well now, so we'll see. I have another variety of Stephania and in the past scale has done a lot of damage to it, but the perrieri seemed unaffected. Maybe I should chop up some of the vines and use it as a scale treatment, lol

I forgot, my cactus bloomed again. I tried to pollinate it again but no dice. It's the second time it bloomed this summer, I'm thrilled! I thought it would bloom this year because it added extra fuzz on top

I see! Perhaps that plant does contains a substance which kills the scale. Thumbs up

Neat Cereus there! Looks like a good size plant!

My Epiphyllum strictum bloomed again last night and we promptly forgot to look. Lucky for me, the morning here was a bit on the cool side and the bloom was still fully open. At least it was easier to shoot a couple of pictures.
