Jo Ann, what is that large leaved plant to the right of your Black Eyed Susan? All of these vines are beautiful. Unfortunately most of my experience with vines is with the nuisance variety. I did have some hops in my 80 sq. foot "yard" in Boston. The 3 color clematis tower is great. Do you cut clematis back to the ground every spring?

I grow most of my vines in a container. The Japanese Morning Glories are beautiful and their seeds will not survive your winter.

Ooooo, LiliM, lovely picture!

That large leaf plant next to the BE Susan vine looks rather like an Oakleaf Hydrangea. Perhaps not though. Lovey dubby

Thanks everyone,I bought BES as a plant ,I am not successful starting seeds and this vine will disappear this year. Its not hardy here and I dont think it will set seeds.
I had Grampa Ott there last year. I failled to bring down the vines and now they are everywhere. No MG 's for me again. My gardens are not big enough to be climbing with vines.

Evanand SOJ, the large plant behind the BES is a deer eaten Oakleaf Hydrangea. Its a small one but even smaller this year.Deer ate all the stems to within 8 inches of the ground.I saw lwaf starts in spring so left it alone.

Jo Ann, if you want seeds from it, you can hand pollinate. I had a few BES vines a year or two ago, and they weren't setting seeds, so I got out there with a qtip or little paintbrush and did the bees work for them. After that, I had seeds! They take a while to get ready though, so if you want some I'd get started soon so they have time to fully ripen and dry. Also once they're ready they seem to drop fast, so keep an eye on them!

Kelly, I did notice those BES vines do not produce alot of seeds. The flower have hollow throat. I did have to hand pollinate many of them. I have a few seeds left of the pink ones and I'm going to grow those next year!

Sweet Autumn Clematis covered the arbor. I was warned against planting it but did it anyway... the fragrance is incredible.

I think it must be the groundhog that has dined on my Crimson Honeysuckle. Fortunately, the vines remain and are putting out new shoots. That's one thing I love about the honeysuckles ... they are tough. Big Grin

Beautiful vine and flowers, LiliM. Thumbs up
