I guess you all are use to an all white winter. We get snow but one batch usually melts before the next comes down. And we are getting twice the normal amount this year.

Make me long for spring
I think snow is beautiful and I really like it , but I am also so... ready for spring when it starts to green up.

You can believe me when I say I will be out in March looking for anything emerging. Usually sedums.

I think that the gardens will be delayed here because of the extra heavy snow cover. Daffs along the stone wall might be as usual because of the heat bouncing off the wall. They are earlier than the others scattered around the garden because of that. I'm all ears!

Not my favorite plant but I do like the way it looks when emerging.

I hope that it doesn't spread like the 'regular' loosestrife which is now banned in MA & people are working to clear the waterways. Enjoy yours.

The wild variety is all over Wisconsin and they are killing it as fast as possible. It filles in the waterways where migrating birds like geese land. Spoiles the hunting season.

I know of the problem with the purple loosestrife , I have seen it first hand when I lived in Michigan.
Seem like the loosestrife is a very diverse plant.
I have a fringed loosestrife that has a very pretty dark leaf and small yellow flowers. It took me a long time to identify because it is so different than the other loosestrife I have in the garden.

Cinda: what beautiful colors when those iris bloom.
There are cultivated and polite purple loostrife varieties. The wild stuff is awful.

That is pretty. I have whorled loosestrife, a native wildflower that also has dark leaves and whorles of yellow flowers. It is a pretty fast spreader, but unlike it's alien cousin, stays low and doesn't take over entirely.
