Thanks!

Rita,

The potatoes grow on their own...if I'm patient enough. Whistling I just don't harvest all of them in the fall. They've been self-supporting for a couple of years now.

Well, here's my tomato patch, such as it is - 5 different cherry or grapes. Ripening tomatoes is iffy in my micro-climate so I just go with some sweeties I can grab on the go - the steps lead to my most used house entrance and the south facing stone wall helps warm things up. This year I planted Sweet Mojo, Sweet Million, Mint Julep, Sun Sugar, and Lemon Drop - all indeterminate so I can train them up the twirly stakes. Carrots popping up in the container on the steps.

The very last of my seeds that I ordered just came in todays mail. Two more types of turnips that I want to grow, Milan and White Milan. Also three types of snap beans. Hildora Bush yellow snaps, Pole beans Cosse Violetto a french fillet type which is a deep burgany and Black Seeded Blue Lake Pole. Never heard of the Black Seeded Blue Lake but I have grown the regular Blue Lake for years. Trying to decide which, if any, I want to plant now.

Very nice. I would be interested in seeing a picture as the tomatoes grow up the squiggly sticks. And I love the stone.

Happy dance for you, Chelle! I tip my hat to you. Hurray!

I don't know which to plant, can't make up my mind. So going to plant nothing today and think on it. I guess that is why I have the three colors of beans. I couldn't make up my minds which to buy either! Rolling on the floor laughing

I have some planted out bush snap beans. Ones called Tenderette. I know bush beans come for short periods compaired to pole and I want any new beans to come after those Tenderettes are done for. And the turnops I want to plant in the TB iris garden. Iris moving project hasn't even started yet. Sad

Yesterday I put more Florida weave on the tomatoes. One row done.
Thumb of 2013-06-04/Newyorkrita/3a70d1

Going around the other side before this side was done. Much flopper tomato plants.

Now both rows done.

And here is today's zucchini that I just picked. You can see that it is 9 inches. I have sliced it up already and will be stir frying it very soon.

I think I see blossoms forming on the biggest of my eggplants. And I see that eggplant grows much the same way as tomatoes in that the little suckers form at the apex of the leafs along the stem and then grow out to be new branches.

So on varieties. I will be having summer taste test challanges on my eggplant varieties as well as my tomatoes. Have ten total eggplants. 5 Classic and one each of Gretel, Ichiban, Fairy Tale, Purple Rain and Rosa Bianca.

They do that for a bit first, then one day they'll just decide it's time to make fruit -lots of fruit! I'm thinking that the plant is setting male blooms early to draw a regular crowd of handy pollinators...but that's just a hunch.

Well, if it is trying to draw pollinators it is doing a lousey job of it cause there are no bees. I have to go out and pollinate. Any that I haven't done thinking that I don't need to do this are drying up. This morning I went out and pollinated again. There were three female blooms this morning. I know everyone tells me the zucchini make tons of fruit but so far I can't see it.

I was told last night at our gardening club that it takes SEVEN visits by pollinators for zucchini. Give it some time.

Peppers are planted -half with collars, just in case. Extra tomatoes are slowly finding homes in other areas of the gardens, but not fast enough to suit me. Hilarious!
I want them done!

I can't dig yet in any areas that aren't raised beds...still too wet.
