Thanks Jewell! I guess I'm going to keep growing ranunculus! I'm hoping that they'll come back next year, I don't plan on lifting them, even though I know they're marginal here. Sticking tongue out

Greg, I bet with a little mulch they'll do Ok. That said I lost all my dahlias several years ago (no mulch), but my rosemary keeps getting humongous. Used to be it froze out every year. No figuring what will happen. Gambling and gardening I guess go hand in hand Green Grin!

Shade bed on north side of house. Japanese iris, ligularia 'little rocket', hostas, astilbe just starting. All filled in with the horribly invasive goutweed that I have chosen to 'coexist with' per Deb's advice from a couple of years ago on DG.

Other shade bed on north side of house. NOID geranium. Japanese maple that needs pruning.

Front slope bed. Nepeta fading while coreopsis comes on strong.

I started so many lobelia 'Crystal Palace' from seed (?around 250), that I plugged them in everywhere. Including this front bed slope.

A pretty pairing: Alchemilla mollis (lady's mantle) with Veronica 'Eveline'

Salvia 'Pink Friesland' has been blooming for several weeks now. I love it. New to me this year.

Shasta daisies now dominating my island bed--rain this week might knock them to the ground this week. I hope not.

2 weeks of warm weather in May caused my hydrangeas to bloom at least 2 weeks early compared to previous years.

For the last 3 years, I've become slightly obsessed with starting pansies and violas from seed. Here are my 3 favorite from this year. I'm IN LOVE with all of them.

Pansy 'Jolly Joker'. The orange and purple are incredibly vibrant and awesome.

I think these are the viola 'Penny peach'--I can't recall right now. They are very pastel. Gorgeous.

One of my favorite plants I started from seed this year, even though only one of the seedlings survived. (I'll try and get more next year for sure) Salvia 'Blue Victoria'

Formal rose garden, now 3 years old. Boxwoods not yet confluent. 29 different David Austin roses in this garden. I'm spraying with neem oil as often as I can this year----WOW, what a difference that makes on keeping away black spot. It has become my favorite garden chore. Something so fun about using that powerful sprayer. Neem oil is organic but can be insecticidal which is bad for bees. I try to keep it just on the foliage.

This is a plant I started from seed 2 years ago. It did not grow true to the package. (It was a contaminant). I decided to keep it though, b/c it's so pretty---even though it self sows so prolifically that it is probably a weed in Missouri, from where the seed originated (Baker Creek). Here, being visited by a hummer just this morning. I will be posting additional pics under the plant ID forum to ID it.

Beautiful pics! I especially like the ridge cap on your greenhouse, very cool looking.
