Hallson usually has a large selection (9 0r 10) of dwarf Orientals. They're a darn good company and prices are reasonable. They grow most of their own stock. The website is: www.perennialnursery.com

I see Lowe's has a dwarf Oriental, After Eight, 3 in a pot for about $10.00. Sometimes they don't sell out and then get marked down to $5.00. I got a lot of my Dwarfs that way. I just grew them in their nursery pots till fall and then planted the bulbs and bulblets out when I planted all the rest of my ordered stuff. Keep an eye out at all the big box home improvement stores.

Dwarf Orientals have high bud count, are hardy and multiply pretty fast. I like them!

This confused me before, too:

Lorn, are you talking orientals or orientpets (OTs)?

'Mistress' is the only dwarf OT I could find in our data base here. There probably aren't many out on the market.

Hi Rick: The one NW15 refers to (Mistress) is listed on the website as a 'pot Oriental' This website lists several (at least a dozen) pot Orientals, not just 'Mistress'. All of those listed I recognize as common commercial dwarf Orientals available in the market place on a crop rotational basis. Almost everywhere they are called 'dwarf Orientals'.

I'm not sure how these are dwarfed, whether it involves dwarf trumpets or not. Probably not. In fact, I didn't think NW15 actually meant OT in the post. I kinda assumed NW15 meant dwarf Oriental. But this raises the question we have: Are these really dwarf Oriental Trumpets? Interesting.

I meant OT's like here it is listed as an OT http://www.perennialnursery.co...
I think on the flamingo site they just grouped them all together and called them pot lilies.

I was going to say, too--the foliage of these does not resemble 'Trumpet' or 'Oriental'. It's very unique--short little, broad leaves. If you check out pot lilies section on the website NW15 has highlited, you'll see all the present day common ones.

Well, well, well. If they've got it listed as as an OT, then it must so, for Mistress. We can ask, just to be sure, I guess. They're good people to deal with--and have a little forum on their website in which they participate.

Looks like I was the one confused this time.

I have often come across OTs being listed as Orientals. I come across all kinds of bologna like that in my research for the database. As far as I am concerned I go by what the registration says and 'Mistress' is registered as an OT by World Breeding.

Mistress is the only one that I know of ~ and it does not get any taller than 12 inches. Dwarf irises can be seen in front of the lilies.
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?

I would have believed you had someone said otherwise. They kind of have the same broad leaves as Mistress. Hilarious!
