LOL Dee. I am not real sure even that will help much. I tried to track down the name of one of mine that looks pretty close to that. Unless you have identical soil conditions, sunlight and so forth and don't think there is any way to be absolutely certain.
A wise iris woman (her name was either Dee or Polly) once said it is dangerous to attempt to ID from a photo.
It is very pretty Allison! I hope you can enjoy her without knowing her name.

Oh, and if you get some clues that could be close, see if you can obtain that iris and grow them side by side. That is what I am doing with several of my NOIDs that folks have given me suggestions for.

The "system" use is similar., but I also try to read the info on the "wiki", or in catalog listings, for the iris(or irises!) that seem to me(or have been suggested) match my noid. That will help confirm, or deny, the chance of it being "your" NOIDSeason of bloom, height, etc, is vital to the search. Age of the cultivar is importabt, too! I once was sure I'd found a match for an iris i had known to be grown since the late 70's....till I read that my "prime suspect" was not introduced till the mid 90's! post your NOIDs on the forums, search the growers webpages, search on the AIS site, until you think you "got it !", then ask your "iris buddies", Anybody grow "Miss Unknown" ? Sometimes one may offer to "guest" a piece of your's! All that "test" will cost you is postage! Otherwise, find a vendor , and , as Lori said, get a "test"iris bought , and growing, and ,If you are lucky, In a year you will have found the ID! If it's NOT a match, the up-side is, you have a named iris, AND a noid! Then keep repeating the process till you get a "winner". One thing to remember, NOT ALL IRIS HAVE NAMES! There are "bee pod" natural hybrids out there, as well as "manually hybridized", and NEVER INTRODUCED iris., such as the one being talked about in another thread...So, it's a BIG undertaking, with the odds not really in your favor, but, it sure is fun( for me, at least), and really gives you a rush when you hit
pay-dirt", and put a bona-fide name to "Miss Unknown". The HIPS site ,and The "Iris Paradise" site have some valuable tips, and worksheets to make the process easier, and i would suggest youcheck out both sites,,,,have fun....Arlyn
