I purchased a small pot of stonecrop the other day, but only because it had a beautiful Columbine growing in it. When I got home, I noticed that it looks like there may be another plant in the pot. Not sure if it's part of the stonecrop or not though. I've never seen one that looked like this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.





This is the part of the plant, or a separate plant, that I haven't seen before. The stem looks the same as the stonecrop, so it may just be part of the plant. Not sure though and I can't separate one from the other

Look up sedum 'Angelina'. Is that it. A wonderful sedum but can spread all over the place. I could be wrong.

I think you are right! Any idea if this these are two different sedums in the same pot?

I'll keep an eye on it, and if it gets out of control, I can always move it. I swore I'd never buy stonecrop again, since I have battled with it in the past, but I just had to have the columbine that was in the pot with it!

You do have 2 different sedum in the pot. Not sure on the name of the other one with the larger leaves. Maybe if it blooms you could post again but over on the sedum form.

Thanks springcolor. I'm not really worried about the name, since I know now that it's two different plants. But, if it's pretty, I'll probably want to know, and will post it on the other forum.

Don't you just love when you purchase a plant and get surprise tag-a-longs!

I thought the little nursery that I bought the columbine at was selling the columbine. They weren't! It just reseeded into almost every pot! So, you picked what you wanted, and got the columbine as a bonus! I wanted the columbine, so I had to sort through the odds and ends until I found something that I could enjoy without having to try and get the columbine out. I figured a ground cover was the way to go, and I'm excited that I got 3 for 1 on the deal!

The larger leafed sedum could be one of the Sedum spurium. They are also a wonderful sedum.

Thanks Lynn, That is good to know! I'll have a better idea of what it is once it blooms. Right now, it looks like the rest of them to me!
