Thumbs up

Now do you want this to be an Insects forum, or a "Insects and Diseases" forum or a "Gardening Problems" forum?

Hurray! I can at least contribute a photo of a Hollyhock weevil....if I can find it. Rolling my eyes. Might even have a photo of the damage they do to the seeds. Maybe. Love this idea!

I think I would prefer "Insects and Diseases" or "Pests and Diseases". "Gardening Problems" may be too broad as, by my way of thinking, that could include soil issues (clay, soupy, etc), drought, etc - not really the intent. With "Pests and Diseases", we could include mole and gopher damage, etc. unless you think that is broadening out the topic too far. What do you prefer?

Woofie, that would be great if you could find the pictures. I haven't ever seen a Hollyhock weevil!

Ha! Found it! Smiling Well, the bug at least, but not edge on pics of the damage to the seeds. But I may still be able to get pics, if I still have some old, damaged seeds. Have to look around.

It's on another computer so I have to copy it off there first. The photo shows the bug and the seeds, so you can see the relative size. Sigh, WHERE are my thumb drives when I need them? Hilarious!

I agree I love the idea of Pests and Diseases. That way all garden pests and diseases can be covered. Even the furry types. Thumbs up

Yes I think 'Pests and Diseases' is a good title. 'Insects' can also refer to things people LIKE (butterflies come to mind!).

I've never seen anything like that, Woofie! That guy would certainly stop me in the garden. Can it be the first picture in the new forum?

Good point, Hetty, I hadn't even thought about butterflies. I like 'Pests and Diseases', too.

Oh, yes! That little nasty is all yours! Hilarious! I came across some additional information on them, too. Apparently the female has a longer snout than the male. I'm guessing my photo is a male, based on the illustrations shown here:

Great blog Sue. I love being able to see what is causing the damage. It was helpful to see your rose photo with they type of damage caused by the Rose Curculio or Rose Weevil. Thumbs up
