It has been such a strange year so far. Last week I looked at a weather map showing all of the heat waves in the United States. Everyplace seemed to be on fire except California. My county was one of the places where temperatures were still in the 70s during the day and in the 50s at night.

July is National Park and Recreation Month, so the thumbnail photo for July is 'Pleasure.'


'Pleasure' has been growing in my garden for more than 30 years and is quite tall for a floribunda -- about 7-8 feet tall. The blooms are a light shade of coral and have ruffled petals.

Lovely color and form. I've never heard of a floribunda getting that tall before.

I find 'Pleasure' a very pleasing rose both in form and color; I could not have named it better.

The north courtyard is in bloom, with Easy to Please on either side of the statue, along with Apricot Candy and Ch-Ching! above it.

Capturing photos from my Spring 2023 garden has been a challenge as I have had to compete with very hungry deer. Consequently I have not been able to capture images of over 60+ roses. The second problem the deer bring is ticks = lyme disease. Having been diagnosed with Lyme disease, I spent from Oct. 2022 to May 2023 attending PT 3x/week. I found this therapy helpful although it has not eliminated the pain in my knees completely. I will resume PT this month. As a effective preventative, I spray my shoes thoroughly with a repellent.
