I'm so happy to see this new forum! Thank you OldGardener for requesting this and offering to be the moderator! Thumbs up

I think our very own JRsbugs (Janet) from the UK will no doubt be able to help us identify many pesky (as well as good) bugs in our gardens.

That will be great! I've not "met" JRsbugs, yet, but look forward to it.

I sent Janet a tree-mail! I know she will be as much of a help here on this forum as she is on the Plant ID forum; she's always so helpful and a great asset to us all here at ATP!

LOL, all gardeners will think it came out right. Green Grin! Pests and diseases can be a constant battle for many of us. With our heat and humidity here in Floirda I find myself fighting aphids quite often ... which shows in the pic's I posted on the photo thread.

I thought that our pest load was high in southern California but then I went to our place in Texas. That's a whole new game down there for me. Blinking I suspect Florida is similar to Texas in terms of pest load?

What a great idea for a forum, even if a tad depressing to see all sickly/ill plants rather than the beauties posted on other sites. Hopefully a good resource to identify and 'fix' things. Adding to my watch list.

I am so glad you are here, Lynn! (My post above was for Lin and the Floridian battle).

LOL, I've been in Florida so long that I'm used to the bugs and critters ... I just don't allow them inside the house!

Alright, folks, Aphids on my yard long beans. Soap didn't work, Isoprophil (?) alcohol did, but killed the vines, too, ahem. I don't want to spray poison, tho' I have some malathion for aphids on flowers that I won't be eating.

Did you try just hosing them off with water? That's *supposed* to work. Rolling my eyes.

I also like a product by Ortho: "elementals Insecticidal Soap" for organic gardening. I don't grow veggies or fruit but the label states that it may be applied to edibles up to the day of harvest. I use it on house plants and ornamentals in the garden.
