Hi Lynn and all, I have a S. 'Maria Laach' (photo below, looks like it needs a carwash!) Lynn in looking at the japanese website that you posted for Mt Usher ID issues, I noticed that their Maria Laach is an arachnoideum type...mine is not! Its large and smooth, with no tufts or cilia - just curious what people have for this semp.
Thank you!

Maria Laach is most definitely not an arachnoideum type. I noticed that mistake on another website, but on most websites it looks just like mine.

It is a very prolific semp. It goes from nearly black in the spring to green with black tips.

Greg, do you have a photo?

I agree with tabby and picklepuff, it is not an arach type semp. Tabby's photos are a wonderful representation of S. 'Maira Laach'.

And here is a link showing 3 more photos from 3 different sources. http://translate.google.com/tr...

Looking forward to your photo Sandi.

Tabby can you add your above photos to the database? They are such wonderful representatives of this semp.

Thank you Cliff, I see it now.
And it does say that the name is often confused with Maria Laach. I can see why. Rolling my eyes.

Greg, where did you get yours from?

I got mine at Youngs and its a gorgeous semp, (and like to what is in the database here, so I thought this was correct, but it concerned me!)

I hadn't noticed the "h" on the end of Maria before, but that explains the one I saw at Mountain Crest. It's a different plant with a different name! I just though it was wrongly labeled. Sheesh, those two names are way too similar.

Tabby I agree way to similar!!!
Lynn my hen is 4 inches across and growing - so that makes it a little bit different from Pickle's...Tabby your's looks to have larger hens too. Anyway Cliff you are exactly right that I looked at the wrong line! OOpsie! Rolling on the floor laughing
Well, now that we got that straight...what's next?? Lovey dubby I feel like another "lite" semp mystery! Rolling on the floor laughing

Greg your semp may grow much larger than tabby's or pickle's would. Yours has a richer soil and a lot more rain to help it along.
The photos on Young's looks more like what tabby's photos show.
Did pickle post a photo?

Not that I've seen! This has helped me realize though that I need to be more observant when searching different websites! Part of the problem was that it was loading slowly the first few times I'd go to that site (because of the volume of info there) and I got impatient!
Thanks everyone for helping me!

Greg, sorry I didn't take a photo. There are a couple of my photos in the data base. I believe Tabby and I have the same source for our 'Maria Laach'. My semp is grown in a small pot with poor soil and very little water, so it has stayed very small. Lynn is right. If I had different growing conditions, my semp would probably be much bigger.
