Quick Relief (Albeit Temporary) from Poison Ivy

If you are dealing with a bit of Poison Ivy, particularly on the hands or forearm area, quick and intense temporary relief can be had by running hot water (as hot as you can stand it without burning yourself) over the affected area. The effect won't last a terribly long time, but the level of relief is unmatched.

I have used the hot water method numerous times and agree that it really relieves the itching. But if I want to both relieve itching and help dry it up I find applying vinegar to the affected spot to be very effective. Of course, I only use this when I know no one is coming to visit. Otherwise they might think they are visiting a pickled gardener!
