Of COURSE daylilies are gorgeous flowers, and never ever show an ugly bloom. Although they do OCCASIONALLY give us an UG. (never ever admit to being ugly!!)

Believe it or not I was called Ugs by the neighborhood kids as a child - on the other hand, the nicknames my friends had... <shivers>

So I am starting this off with an FFO on a gift plant I received a month ago - no ID necessary unless one wants to

Granted, this might not be 'ugly' but it sure ain't pretty! The photo actually makes it look better!!!~Jan

This is a named one from last year, it cost big bucks. It was ugly also last year. Yeah I know I need to spray for thrips, BUT this was right after I sprayed last time.

Halloween Costume had a really difficult time settling in and blooming properly here: I had at least a half-dozen that looked like this (actually, this is one of the better ones):

Thumb of 2013-06-08/OldGardener/42a030

It finally settled in (I think it knew it was going to go down the road, soon, if it didn't try harder):

Shocking! I thought it was a year apart! It teaches you to never give up on a dud! It's a stunning daylily when it's behaving!

I just hope it continues to behave nodding I think it was having a problem with the cool mornings.

I am sure that is the problem with the one I posted too - these cool temps. I am sure I will have more this year, I still have seedlings - and I hate to spray for thrips if they are not going to be a major problem this year, last year they were horrible - but I was told it was partly because of the drought - at least I hope so. ~Jan

This one has been a major disappointment from the get-go. To be fair, we moved it to a better spot, and now it has bloomed much earlier than before. We had hopes for pretty flowers, but no luck. This is the start of the fifth year for it and if there is no major improvement, out it goes. I don't even like it as a single.

I really like the color of that one a lot! Too bad it's not living up to what you want. I'd find it very hard to get rid of it!

This is Coffee House FFO. This was a gift from Maryott's last summer. I almost lost it this spring, so I am actually amazed it even sent a scape up. But this flower never quite lived up to it's potential. Hopefully subsequent blooms will, because I was excited to get it

It seems pretty washed out to me! On the other hand, it is about 43 inches tall and the bloom is very large. ~Jan
