Quick Relief (Albeit Temporary) from Poison Ivy

If you are dealing with a bit of Poison Ivy, particularly on the hands or forearm area, quick and intense temporary relief can be had by running hot water (as hot as you can stand it without burning yourself) over the affected area. The effect won't last a terribly long time, but the level of relief is unmatched.

This really works for us but you have to have water as hot as you can stand. It will turn your skin red temporarily but the relief is immediate. We continue to do this when it begins itching again. I believe it dries the skin somewhat and we use it on mosquito bites, also. You can't do this on a child or actually anyone else. They have to decide how hot the water is... how much they can stand. You don't want to burn someone.
