I added Ruby Lipstick to the Island Bed in the Fall of 2022. Two fans grew to three fans by Spring. That summer of 2022, I only had four blooms, but at least I could see it was the right plant. By October, it was down to two slightly rusty fans.
This Spring, Ruby Lipstick was back to three fans and had a very successful bloom season. Blooming from July 13 to August 13, I counted 23 flowers.
It's a pretty flower, although mine has bloomed very close to the ground, nowhere near the registered height of 30", either year of bloom so far. Hopefully next year will show a taller scape. I really like red eyes and this one seems to be surviving pretty well. I've found that many red eyed Daylilies don't seem to like the North. Although it hasn't been growing like gangbusters, I'm pretty happy with this plant.
