I love crepe myrtles, although they do sucker here so it takes some maintenance. Found these resources to check out.

I don't know. Like I said, I just got it last summer, planted it in fall. I don't imagine it will get a whole lot taller here. Just my guess.

Mosaic virus in Hibiscus? I didn't know they could get it! I'm guessing it's not the same virus that attacks Tulips and Lilies, or hoping at least. I have had to dig out several Lilies the last couple of years because of it.

I'm afraid so. Apparently, they are just now discovering various types of viral diseases in the H. moscheutos including mosaic viruses from various sources.

I hate to think it will eventually kill my large 'Luna Pink Swirl'.

From what I've just read, it appears I should stay away from getting any more Rose of Sharon for the time being, too. They are all over the place around here and it will be awful if a virus attacks and kills them.

Pretty horrible. Is this the same mosaic virus that the tobacco plants carried? I know - I should read the article.....

Yes, it's the tobacco mosaic virus ... as well as from other sources besides tobacco.

It's a wild tangle, but I love it that way.....and the roses keep on blooming even in all that clutter. Amazing. I'd have thought they'd dislike those close quarters.

This was taken on the same day. I'd *man-handled* a 15 foot ladder over the 10 foot fence, through the wilderness of native growth to get a couple of pics from above.
