Finally getting a little weeding done. I figure even an hour or so before the heat sets in has gotta help. Good grief, giant ragweed is a rapid grower! Trying to get it all out before it blooms.

It has been cool the last couple of days. I will be able to work today as I had a short to relieve tendiniti in my shoulder. Glad that it wasn't a tear. Saw poor miniature tall iris foliage lying on the ground yesterday. It had been chewed off so I suspect a cut worm since it was not eaten. DL blossoms still hanging on. Pumpkin T ime has started, 12 stems this yr. It usually flowers through Sept.

Humidity should be down today so I can get areas in the iris beds ready for the new plants. All ordered irises are now here.

Still very little doing here beyond watering containers and setting up a trickle water feed for my Cedar Elm. At least another week to go with 100+ temps and no rain. Will be a lot of cleanup when it does cool down, though. Trying to convince my boss to have "I survived the Summer of 2011" t-shirts and coffee mugs made. Bet we'd sell out fast, especially to construction, city, and postal workers. Hilarious!

Removed a metal garden marker which had a broken label on the holder. Put in new one. Took holder over to where a label was on the ground, holder missing & put that label on the holder from first spot.

Last night DBH and I laid out a new bed with soil and compost. Have 30 new Daylilies to plant there in a few days.
Another bed is being expanded this weekend.
An arbor is planned and the stone path put in postion for it.
The morning glories need correcting, if you know what I mean. LOL. I have been WAY too lenient with them this year, but wanted them to have a rolicking good time! (unfortunately it comes at the expense of any tall neighboring plants)
That's just a few of our weekend plans...

Janice..do you add anything to your soil before you plant your daylilies? Rec'd some dayliles at a recent plant swap and I need to get them planted today or tomorrow. In the one bed, the soil is great so don't think I'll need to add anything extra but back yard beds are fighting a 45 yr. old tree roots so know that bed needs amendments.

Pippi, I add compost and mulch the beds. That's about it. After planting daylilies, I liquid feed them.

Should I be dividing my cone flowers and moving them to their new home now? I figure I have a couple of weeks before frost and even then maybe could move them...I have some victoria blue salvia where I want to put them and the finches are loving it..
