Do you find it interesting the Lysimachia look so different, all being in the same family?

Yeah, it's pretty amazing. I went and Googled it a couple of times to make sure I hadn't misnamed something, lol....

BREATHTAKING color, Cinda!! Gorgeous photo!! I will have to look for that one. Smiling

Cheryl, what a pretty, pretty combination! And I love the stones! Do you have alot of stones in Tennessee?

Here, in this area, I am lucky to see a pebble every now and then! No rocks!! All red clay.

I sure do miss stones. In Massachusetts, you couldn't dig for 2 minutes without unearthing rocks, sometimes big ones.

This one was unearthed when we had excavation work done, at our last home. (had it carved)

Cinda, sorry I missed that post. *Blush*
Yes, it is very interesting, that there are so many quite dissimilar plants, all members of Lysimachia!

I adore the Gooseneck Loosestrife and that was one of the first plants I re-got here.

Unfortunately, when we moved here I left every plant behind, except for 2 Daylilies!!
I can't believe it!
It has been very expensive (not to mention tedious!) to replace all those plants, some really almost irreplaceable, as some were 15-20 years old (Hostas).

If we move again, everything goes with us! Thumbs up

5?

That picture is just *so* cottage - the wicker, the flags, the zinnias and coneflowers... cute, cute, cute.

OMG - stones. Stones, rocks, pebbles, plates - you name it. My so-called rock garden is really just the piled sheets of limestone that got broken up when we put in a water line. Someday I'll take a picture of it when it's in a little better shape. Okay, a lot better shape Whistling ....

Do-si-do!

We, too, have been talking about moving.... ugh, I'd lose so much. Of course, then I get to make up for all the mistakes I made here....

Nice janice ,i need to get brushing up on proper names ,I have no idea at times what plant you all are talking about then ,I see a photo...arrgg on my part ..I have a lot of the plants you talk about but I know slang names..hehehe..ah oh well.
I had a variety of purple loosestrife ,I dug up and burned,it was on the do not plant list here . What a shame that it`s soo invasive . Taking over wetlands,I ve also noticed Russian Olive popping up everywhere along the roadsides here,it is invasive too??? and a certain Bradford pear im also seeing growing in the ditches.Kind of amazing,i would have never thought trees to be invasive..Food for thought..

Tamara,
I am in the same place with the names , I am always googling to see what plant is being talked about. With so many plant names that are impossible to spell and even harder to pronounce no wonder people come up with common names for their favorites.
I just cannot picture two old ladies having a conversation over the picket fence using the Latin names Hilarious!

On the other hand I do know exactly what plant is being talked about when it's proper name is used , there are way to many buttercups and bluebells to know what the heck is being talked about sometimes.

I know the purple loosetrife you are talking about ,it is a pretty plant when in bloom , but has taken over so much of the natural wetlands in Michigan. I have seen places where there are acres of just that plant. Thumbs down No room for diversity , and I have read it isn't good for much where the wildlife are concerned.

You painted a great description there, Cinda....with the pickett fence!! Hilarious!

I love the common names, as well as the botanical.
