Oh, boy. We got through another summer without any serious wildfires nearby. The last time my town experienced mandatory evacuation was four years ago, and it was actually for the four last days of October, but it was a particularly dry year. I don't expect this October to be a problem.

The summer here stayed on the cooler side from start to finish: mostly temperatures in the 70s with occasional days in the 80s and very, very few that heated up to 90 degrees. It felt odd to be living in one of the coolest spots in the nation while heat waves were raging in unlikely locations.

October is Museums and Galleries Month. This month's thumbnail photo is 'Work of Art,' one of Ralph Moore's climbing miniature roses.

I started our latest rose-of-the-day feature a year ago, on 1 October 2022. If I continue, I'll be likely to choose the same occasions in most cases and even the same roses, so I'm calling an end to my tour of duty. We have a good group of active members, so I'm hoping the feature will be continued by others.

We didn't have a hot summer, either, just normal. What wasn't normal was a lack of rain in the spring. We usually get a pretty good amount, but, most of the summer was dry, also.
Lovely rose, Zuzu. The bloom form has a little bit of the look of a hybrid musk called Cornelia.

Zuzu, so sorry your tour of duty will be ending. You have done a fantastic job posting a new rose each day for whatever the day of celebration was. It amazed me how you always came up with an appropriate rose each time. I don't know as much about roses that the other participants on this forum do so, unfortunately I don't feel capable of carrying on the tour. I would like to thank you for doing this. Now, you will have more time to tend to your personal rose collection.

I think assuming Zuzu's position as daily rose presenter will require a group effort. We can't let such a fun tradition fade away!

Is this one commemorating World Farm Animal Day or is it what you've named your car?

Ah, could be either couldn't it? It was for the farm animal day. I wanted to use the rose 'Pumpkin Patch' for Name Your Car day in honor of my great semi-retired truck The Great Pumpkin, but I don't have the required picture of the truck for it to make sense.

So today's possibilities: National Fruit at Work Day, National Kevin Day, National Poetry Day, National Boyfriend Day to name a few.
