There was an Idea submitted that suggested dabbing on Ever Clear grain alcohol on poison ivy lesions. I have never been sensitive to Poison Ivy until this spring. I went to the dermatologist wondering what was happening to my skin as the problem was spreading. Doc said, "Poison Ivy." I told her, Naaaaaw! I'm not allergic to it!" She caught it at the end of the ordeal and just prescribed a steroid to help with the itching and spreading. (Itching spreads it)

Well, I worked in the yard on Monday. And I know I had handled (carefully) Poison Ivy. At the end of the day, I thought I got a bug bite and lo and behold today I see the "tracks" of Poison Ivy and 4 more tiny blisters!! And of all places it is on my left cheek--the cheek on my face, that is!

I tried Ever Clear and immediately the itching is gone. It did blister, but with the second application, it went away. I will keep you up to date on how the Ever Clear works. My face is the last place I need Poison Ivy Dermatitis and the accompanying scars.

I'd love to know how well it continues to work. I get it sometimes from just petting my cat and would love to have something that worked to clear it up. Keep us posted!

Me too! I wound up in ER with it on my scalp, face,arms, etc. thought I was invincible too! Know I'm very wary of it.

Well, I am little itchy this morning. The redness is down but I also used some steroid cream last night so IDK if the decrease in redness is from that? I am bothered enough by it. I am going to go for another shot, um I mean, dab.

Well, you might try a combination of topical application along with a systemic approach.....

I think maybe the Ever Clear might have worked if I found it early. As it was, I found a lesion on my face Monday night and thought it was a mosquito bite, as it didn't hurt like a pimple/infection. It just itched. By Saturday, I knew what it was as it started drying up and there are two smaller lesions heading out in a line. I went full guns today. Put on more Ever Clear, rubbing alcohol, use a high frequency blue light on it, then steroid cream. I dabbed on some mineral make up so I can look presentable at Father's Day Dinner. The lump won't look presentable, but I tried. I'll just sit in a corner seat and keep my head turned to the left to hide it. All the Poison Ivy products out there are for within 8-10 hours of exposure and I am waaay past that!

What about a dose of benadryl? Of course, that doesn't go well with the systemic approach to the Ever Clear.......

I had a Margarita or three at dinner instead of Benadryl. I still itch.. Washed the make up off and applied more Ever Clear. I am sure it is entering my body via the skin! I'd better not drive anywhere tonight!

You need to see your doctor and not let this go. You could have scarring if you're not careful.

Im a painter by trade and am very alergic to poison ivy. I get it every year now I always use some laquer thinner and it seems to help dry it up pretty quick . Multiple applications till it dries it up. Just about the same as everclear Been doing it for years and helps anyway .

I posted on another site and one of our great service men posted on my thread that the government give them Zanfel when they get poison ivy, oak, or sumac. I found it on ebay and am now armed with 2 tubes of it. No poison ivy so far this year but have used it on itching when I didn't know if it was poison ivy. It is 35 dollars a 1 oz tube at Wal-mart but I bout it for 25 dollars for 2 1oz tubes on Ebay.

I carry scars from last year on my upper arm and I was miserable when I had it. NOTHING I bought or dr gave me worked

Look up also. When I got it I was picking pecans and did not see it hanging down over my head. I use surgical gloves from wal-mart when I see one growing. I pull it up or dig it loose first then I pick it up with the glove on my hand and just peel the glove off carefully over my outside trash can.

I always keep 'tecnu poison oak-n-ivy cleanser' on hand. It
works better than anything else I have used.
