Susan I have no idea. I picked it up when I first started gardening 20 years ago. I do not know if you had a Big Box store called Hechinger. In PA it was replaced with Home Depot. I had just brought the house and it did not have any flowers and I went in there and purchased things and as BB stores go no name plants.

It is a crazy daylily. It blooms different colors depending where it is planted.

It blooms this muddy brown color in the shade. In sun it is a little brighter yellow.

I am looking for another pic. I planted it somewhere else and it actually bloomed pink and yellow. I gave it the name of Chameleon.

I've always thought there might be an advantage in removing a bloom stalk just as it was starting from a young plant, allowing that energy to growing more plant instead of a bloom stalk. Just conjecture but it makes sense to me. It would be fun to do a double blind study.

Freda, the pine needles will help keep the slugs out of your garden. They can not slide through them. I have had great success with putting it around the hostas and this has been a great year for me, hosta wise. Now, if I can get them to stop eating the daylilies. Yes, I am in the process of putting pine needles around the beds, not every plant, but maybe in the fall I will get more. I will continue to spray the ammonia water into the crowns, they seem to like to lay eggs there. I sprayed all the ones in the bed out back and the daylilies are beautiful. Just using 20%. Thumbs up

I've got many blooming right now - a veritable riot of colour.

'Allegan Fog' - always blooms well but has never set seed for me. Does anyone have success with getting seed from it?

Beautiful Hostas! Hurray! Hurray!

I read that 'Allegan Fog' has no viable seed.

Susan - someone on the Facebook American Hosta group posted a picture of a seedling from 'Allegan Fog'. But I guess one has to get seed first. Shrug!
