That was very touching Pat, maybe you can get a different kind of tree for that little girl so she can have fun too. Smiling

I actually have...in a way I never expected, it just started growing in an old pot. I call it a 'junk tree' because I have no clue what it is. But I baby it as much as I can Smiling Thumb of 2013-06-21/Pat72/03f7ad

Do you have Mulberries nearby? The leaf looks very similar to my Mulberry (Morus) seedlings.

Great blog start - it reminded me of when I was in my late teens and grew a Walnut tree in an apartment. I have always found peace in the garden and found apartment living to be quite depressing - that is, until I brought the outdoors in.

Not sure if I have Mulberries nearby, but there is a lot of trees that are close, I'll have to get a picture of them---I think that is where Zippy my visiting hummingbird lives Smiling It is depressing lol, but I guess having my own peaceful place makes it at least bearable, lol Hilarious!

I can get a closer pic if you want to see them closer up. I work at another property now frostweed, so I haven't seen Mom or the daughter in all this time Sad I just hope to do a part to inspire the concept she started within me Smiling

I cannot really tell what type of trees those are - perhaps someone else can?

Once I brought the outdoors in, I was much happier with apartment life. The management wouldn't allow plants outside on the stoop so indoor gardening was my only choice Being surrounded by concrete and busy streets did not help, either. But at least I could sit at my table and eat dinner under that little walnut start.

I see that you have a beautiful balcony. What a great place to grow your plants!

I really understand what you mean by having your own peaceful place. That makes all the difference in the world. Smiling
