Yesterday I just purchased a Flutterby dwarf butterfly bush. I happened to be in Lowe's and was I surprised to see these. I knew they were the new hybrids that are rated as sterile, therefore non-invasive. We grow a lot of daylilies, but we need other flowering plants in our gardens when the daylily bloom season is over. I think this one will work well, and I would love to get more of these new introductions. I can do mail-order, but those are usually on the small side, or else the shipping charges are horrendous. Anyway, anyone on this forum growing these butterfly bushes? If so, where did you get them and how do you like them?

I got a couple of the Flutterby Petite Tutti Fruitti last fall so I am just now seeing them bloom. Mine looks like yours and I thought it was supposed to be pink or else I just assumed that because of the pictures I saw. The plants are low to the ground like a ground cover not a shrub and I was NOT expecting the flowers to be full size. I wanted a dwarf butterfly shrub with dwarf flowers for the flower bed. This plant has ended up with other perennials growing on top of it while it continues to hug the ground. I think I heard it calling for help. LOL.

Susan, after I did this post, I was thinking about kicking myself for posting it here. I guess this is a perennial, not a shrub. Where this one is planted is fine, for we space out our plants pretty well, and I don't think this little one will be taken over by anything. If it is, we will move it. I hate it when I see a picture of a plant in bloom and then if I get it, the flower is not the same color as in the picture--bummer!!!

Well, after taking a second look I think it is pinker than yours. I will just move it and give it some more time but it seems leggy. Maybe I should prune it and see if it will get stronger, right now the plant is not strong enough to hold up it's own flowers. That is probably why they are laying on the ground.
