I'm finding most of the Astilbe to be something of a revelation ounce they mature. The flower height is often greater than I thought. At least with CFL you can see through it so it should work in the middle/front of a bed.

It used to confuse me when a vendor gave the plant height as such snd such.I wanted to know the blooming height,It really makes a difference in some parts of the garden.Bluestone gave 24 inches as the height for Amethyst.It finishes blooming at just about 4 feet.
