The little bunch grass looks like annual Blue Grass. I don't recognize the bigger stuff.

It looks like your lawn has been invaded by some sort of bulb. Hopefully one will bloom and solve the mystery.

We have found that seeds can live for untold number of years, different seeds different lengths of time. Migrating birds, rain, winds, pets, all can pick up a seed and travel with it. What grass did your lawn have? Some seeds like bermuda do not look at all like the mature version we are accustomed to seeing, hope your lawn fills in better, here where I am weed n feed is invaluable as we have everything coming up.

Last summer's drought severely damaged our pastures. This spring we have a huge increase in the weed population due, I believe, to the waiting seeds in the soil that Kat mentioned. Increasing the general health of your lawn should discourage future hostile takeovers. Mowing and fertilizing may help.

Dig some up with roots to confirm bulb, or not.
Plant it and they will come.

I see a spent bloom to the left. Could you get a better pic of that please? Thanks.

Flat leaf — Could that be garlic chives? I've never had the misfortune, but I've read they travel like wildfire.

Mr Tim, can you crush them between your fingers a take a sniff?

I wonder if it is a Claytonia sp. MRTIM@@ may never have noticed this diminutive spring ephemeral bulb among a healthy turf landscape - but it doesn't require observation to thrive.

Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica)

Lawns are over-rated; spring ephemerals are under-appreciated.

It looks too large. And, usually the leaves are more clearly pointed and glaucous. And, shorter flower stalks, usually.
