Another reason....Semps are easy to move with you to a new home.

Very portable, unlike alot of plants with extensive root systems.

Semps are petite in the plant world. Smiling

Oh, Bev, that is so wonderful to hear!!!

Mine will be moving to Cape Cod soon, where they will remain in pots.

The freezing and thawing would most likely cause them to rot in the ground there, but will have to see.

I love experiments!! Hurray!

Chris, it is Zone 7A, and considered a coastal maritime zone.

The other parts of Massachusetts are Zone 6 (including the Boston area) and some even Zone 5 (Western part of the state).

Date not as yet set, Lynn. Smiling

As to containers..... I have close to 100 pots.

But to make things easier, I am removing the plants from the pots, and bagging the semps individually, then boxing them up.

Dirt will be put in huge doubled garbage bags, within plastic storage bins.

Empty pots will be easier to move.

Should be interesting.

We moved our entire garden from suburban Boston to Cape Cod and it was really a breeze.

We even moved trees and shrubs. Took 3 trucks, but we ended up with an "instant garden".

This time, Daylilies, Hosta, some Roses and other perennials will also move along with the Semps. Fun! Smiling

Marilyn,
Yes, what Lynn said!

Hummingbirds were at a few flowers...Semps are not traditional Hummer plants, but I have seen them there.

Here is a frequent visitor to all my Semps. You can see his proboscus extended drinking.... a Delaware Skipper.

Mt. Usher

Thank you, Chris!

Fingers crossed, as I was alot younger when we moved that entire garden.

I am going to have to take loads of Vitamins to build myself up for the task!
