Inordinate amounts of rain here, too. We've had 4 dry days in the past month and a half - even then, there was rain at night. Astonishing that the semps are (so far) all OK. Guess it's the raised beds draining as they should. Also have had some flash flooding - it took me 25 minutes to make a 5 minute trip two days ago and, wow, is my truck ever FILTHY from the mud of the back roads I had to take!

Okay, I'm not going to complain about our lack of rain. Kate & Lisa, that is really difficult weather to garden in.

Kate, glad to hear your raised beds work. Thumbs up

May need to make one or just keep my semps in the hyper tufa pots.

The cold front just moved through here today so we should dry out now Hurray!

We only had rain twice this week, but both times we got about 1-1/2" in an hour. Really came down like crazy. A nice dry week on the way here too. Thumbs up

Well the death toll is in, I lost a total of 4 semps to the rain. Crying
Zulu, Montrose, Uranus and now my last Oddity.
Thought the 2 I had pulled would make it but they did not.
Loved all 4 so I will buy them again. nodding

Thanks Lynn, I am keeping all the rest in hyper tufa as my ground does not drain fast enough for them. A good excuse to make a raised bed. nodding

Raised beds are the best when you have slow draining soil. Can't wait to see you first bed when you get it built. Hurray!

Never thought of it as slow draining before now and I guess it is not really, all my daylilies love it. Semps just need different conditions and the rains recently proved that. Now, how do I talk my hubby into helping me make a new home for my semps??? Whistling

oi think my semp being on a slope and the fact that i mixed a lot of pea gravel into the compost before i put it down and i didn't make any area's level just kind of went with the slope amending the bed with this mixture and also put pea gravel on top under the semps has really helped.I haven't lost any semp's from that bed!!! Whistling it's another story in the other bed that i didn't amend the compost i amended the ground with and it's not on a slope.I have pulled all of the semps out of that bed.The Sedum is doing fine in both beds.If it EVER stops raining i am making the rock garden bigger for all my semps until i figure something out.

Surely the rain has to stop soon, this is Ga.in July!!!!! Grumbling
Here's some recent pictures of some parts of the rock garden

In the 2nd picture you can see the Sedum i lost.
