Oh, that's exciting! I'm thinking of putting this PP and my other 2 pots of burgundy Philos in one big pot together. The number of pots inside last winter was beyond ridiculous. Do you have space issues?

Philos air layer great, just find a bare peice of trunk and place some peat moss around the trunk, wrap in plastic or fabric and keep it moist, it take some time, philos don't grow that fast...works like a charm for me...

My pp was a broken branch I picked up of the GH floor, it took bout 2 months to root, I used 30% sand 70% peat...it's color is terrible now...

I love Philodendron 'Pink Princess'; so much so that I have two! I read that if you keep it pruned back you can keep the pretty variegation in the leaves but if you don't prune, it will revert to the regular P. erubescens; has anyone else heard that? I've only had my plants about a year and haven't pruned either of them. Five or six years ago I had a very small Pink Princess that I received in a trade and I tried propagating a stem cutting but ended up being out of town for a week or so during which time we had lots of rain and both the plant and cutting drowned! Here's a tip from Lari Ann from a couple of years ago on the Aroids forum about propagating 'Pink Princess':
The thread "Philodendron erubescens 'Pink Princess'" in Philodendrons, Elephant Ears, and Other Aroids forum

I keep one of my plants on the screened porch and the other inside the house. Later this year when I find time I might try rooting a cutting again!

Lin - what is the plant to the right of PP in the first photo? I love the patterns on the leaves.

I haven't read much about pp but syngonium are real bad about growing out of their color...

I have seen a couple pretty big ones, leaves 10" long not counting the petioles, it was pretty clear that there was less if the splashed look, the variegation was expressed itself with large sectors of the leaf, or half green half pink leaves, even all pink leaves, it was much more dramatic IMO, and was much more noticeable from a distance...but there were also a were plain dark green leaves mixed in, I didn't notice any in the lower younger growth they seemed to only be growing in more mature section of the plant...

That may be what happened to this one, which is the mama plant of the one I have now. The owner of the store said it was "all one plant."

A decent trade might be that the plain green part was blooming?
