Hilarious! What happened was Semp week here at ATP! I became a bit obsessed! Still looking online at lots of pretty pictures, and I'll be ordering some soon. I'm mostly interested in ones that multiply quickly, because I have zero of them now! I'm in love with those adorable rollers, too!

The rollers are really tough, and so much fun to watch them grow into wonderful colonies. You will love them.

Thanks Lynn! It's good to hear that they are tough! I can't wait to start collecting... um, wrong choice of words Rolling on the floor laughing ... growing them! I'm so fascinated by the change of color that they go through. I had no idea that they did that! I thought that they just grew babies, which is pretty cool too, but the change in color is what has me really interested in them. Had I known this before, I would have been growing them all along. I'm pretty sure that I had seen multiple pictures of the same variety, but didn't realize that it was the same one, due to the big change that they go through. It's a really awesome plant!

I stopped at a small nursery in the city today to buy some tomato plants, and they had Silver King, which is what I was looking for on here tonight. I was happy to see that it was listed as a "rabbit" Hilarious! One of the small 4" pots was packed full, but that didn't really tell me much. It was pretty, and red, and I loved it, but I wanted to get a little more information on it before buying it. Mainly, did it grow fast, which this thread shows that it does. I'll get it the next time I'm in the city! I'm going to order some from Chris (goldfinch4), too!

Part of our property off the back of our house is very steep. I've made a terraced area off the deck, and have been looking for deer resistant plants to put in there. So far, the deer have eaten everything I've planted. Thumbs down I probably wouldn't mind as much if this area wasn't so hard to get to for planting. When I saw that the semps were deer resistant, that was a plus, because I thought it would be a really good place to plant some, since they don't require a lot of care.

I just got an e-mail from my sister, telling me about a weird dream that she had a couple of nights ago. Right then, I remembered the dream I had last night! My dream was that I bought a bunch of the roller types, and planted them in the terraced area. I only bought ones that reproduced quickly, but I never saw any babies on the plants. I figured that the conditions weren't to their liking, and maybe I should move them. I decided to hike down to the bottom of the property, and the entire area was covered in semps that had rolled down the hill!

You know, that's one dream that could come true if the hill was steep enough!

Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! It's plenty steep enough for them to roll down! I feel like I'm taking my life in my own hands whenever I'm in that area, knowing that I could roll all the way to the bottom myself!

Me too I love that dream!! Hurray! These plants do get eaten if the deer are hungry enough (or so I've heard on these threads - I live in Seattle, we have possum and raccoon but no deer that I know of!) I tip my hat to you. nodding

Thanks Greg. The deer here are very well fed, thanks to all the alfalfa that is grown by the neighbors, so maybe they would survive. I've never seen a raccoon or possum! I feel so bad for the neighbors that raise cattle, because they can barely keep them fed in the winter, thanks to the deer. We're putting in a bird food plot in one of our pastures, and I'm sure that the deer will eat it down to nothing. If it takes some pressure off of the alfalfa, that will be fine with us. I just won't plant any semps where they can get to them, until I've got some spares in a safe spot!
