An unusual pic, but how beautiful! Tell us more about this grass?
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand-basket?

Margaret. Margaret. This takes my breath away. Yes, DO tell us all about this beauty!
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

Oh my goodness, thank all of you so much for liking my banner, the acorn tips and the thumbs. I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

The grass grows wild in ditches and along roadways here and I have loved it from the first time that I saw it, it is that lovely pinky/purple color and it has fantastic movement in the wind. I will try and find another photo of it.

Foxtail grass, photo was taken at Lac Le Jeune. The seeds have barbs that can be very dangerous for dogs and other animals.

Truly beautiful, and we used to have one in a prominent spot in the back yard .... but they can be deadly for dogs and cats. The barbed seed (the seed has a "feather" on it that carries the barbs) can easily be inhaled and then anchors inside the nasal cavity. Our dog simply brushed the plant, caught an airborne seed in her nose, and quickly began bleeding from the nose as she tried to sneeze it out. Fortunately it did dislodge, but we had to move the plant outside of the backyard, behind a tall fence, and down-wind from where the dogs go out to exercise. Just a word of caution for pet owners.

Otherwise, it is a lovely, dreamy plant ... I wish they would hybridize to eliminate the barbed seeds, though....
